Today I tore down the chassis, sanded and dremel'ed the brazing joints and primed and painted. Also shot the body with a rough coat of primer to see where I need to do more sanding. Sigh, everywhere.

Got the deck stained today. A little progress each day is good. I've given myself a deadline of March 7th.

Clean wiring. There's a first for everything! Tekin's FXR is so super nice and small. More to come!

That thing looks awesome! What do you use for "body filler" for the gaps in the styrene?

Following for sure. That's some awesome styrene work! Threads like yours are far more enjoyable to read through multiple times.

Generally, I try to not use any filler! But on my not so stellar days, I use Squadron white. Then after light sanding, Bondo glazing putty.

Wow, thanks man. That's a really nice compliment. I was trying to make sure I actually built something for C1 this year. I like to win ribbons for trucks, but suck at driving.

Thanks very much. I find myself reading through them again too. Mostly so I can remember how I did something! Ha!

More progress!

To mount the "thingy" I used strong magnets and countersunk some flat screws into the front so the magnets have something to grip to, as well as a metal plate in the rear. Works well and invisible. The topper slides onto the styrene plate which will hold a lot of velcro for all the electrics and battery. Perfect, and completely hidden. Happiness.

I also got a custom skin done up, courtesy of Freqeskinz to cover up that "thingy". Let's call it a "Trials Cover", I guess. Looks awesome, and should give you an idea of paint color for the cab.

Interior progress has been made, but nothing to show yet. Simple, but all there. More to come, but I've been slammed at work. Work sucks and then you're dead.

So more bits and bobs and I hit the home stretch.

Step off my grille, dog.

Interior is mocked up. Not sure I love the upholstery yet. It'll either grow on me, or I'll rip it out and start again. It'll probably work fine once I paint the cab.

Door panels.

Talk about Mudflaps, my girl's got 'em!

I'm steering this towards the finish line.

After all that, I'm exhausted.

We're reaching the home stretch - I've not met my goal of being done by the 7th. So I guess it'll be considered carry-on baggage...

Some paint work has been done, and interior primed and ready to finishing details.

Very cool, I like the stuff you did there. Your tire lugs look much phallus too. Good job.

It's pretty orange. As iI pick out the details, it's definitely getting better.

As they should sir, as they should...

N00b provided some of these gas tanks originally intended for a Chevy.

I chopped them up, painted and added them to the undercarriage to hide some of the mechanicals.

I then tackled the interior parts and got that all wrapped up.

Some Jerry cans for the rear (you can never have too much gas).

And some detail work on the body. Much more to come in that regard. Right down to the wire for the USTE...

Turk says hello from the driver's seat!

Loved the thread, and in awe of your masterful skills!!

I was looking at the scale expo site, is it possible to be just a spectator? looks like the entry fees assume driving participation.

Thanks very much. Yes, I believe you can be just a spectator to the event, but you do have to pay something to cover the entry to the event.
