| Fr8cture's JK8 #2 w/ Toyzuki V2 chassis
So I decided to do another jk8 but do all the body work myself. I got the chassis the other day and started putting things together. Thanks to Ben and the mail man! First thing is getting these nuts into place they are quite a pain to get in. The motor mount ones went in without a fuss for some reason. Chassis spreader installed. Next is the tcase. I got gear covers from VMGontherocks that I used. You will need a extra output shaft for the tcase. The big gear is at the middle and two smaller gears on the side. The tcase tabs into place them locks in with 2 screws on each side. Nice thing is the tcase doesn't touch the skid. Next we got the motor mount. You will have a pear shaped piece on the spur side to hold the bearings in and then two on the opposite side of the stand offs to hold the bearings aswell. You will need two bearings on the spur side of the mount and one on the output side for the lower gear. The top you got one bearing on spur side then the gear then the o ring included with the toyzuki kit and bearing. I also had a gear cover for this from VMGontherocks. I also put in a Holmes Hobbies stubby puller 2700kv in. I then mounted the Futaba HV S9177SV to the front plate. I used stock scx10 servo mounts to mount it. Much easier than using lock nuts. All installed. Then I threw some CI comp cut 4.75 soft/med foams into the Pitbull Rock Beast XLs then mounted on to Deadloc riot 5 star wheels. I plan on getting some Lockeduprc wheels instead. I also assembled a set of MIPs. Also had a bumper made by Gray matter laboratory on fb with a RC4WD Warn 8274 winch. That's it for now should have some shocks arriving tomorrow. |

Gml makes some really nice sliders too! They mount to the angled skid and sit level to the ground!

Got my shocks and BLE Pro in today. Threw the shock on then soldered a bec to the battery posts on a tekin B1R that I will use as winch controller then soldered the B1R to the battery wires on the BLE Pro. I also decided to try a star plug instead of a standard dean's. Really like the cover vs to heat shrink. I plan on mounting the bec to the bottom of the tray to hide as many wires as possible. |

On to some body work. I started off with this body. I then started to fill in the holes on the fenders. I used tiny strips of styrene to fill it then sanded them flat then filler over that. I mocked up some maddog rc light bars. Using the vp mount on the windshield and the gear head rc ones on the hood. I drew on the grill to cut out the marker lights then cut them out I think they turned out good. I ordered a Knights customs stingray hood for the grill along with the hood latches. I also chopped the flares off I spent so much time filling. They didn't turn out how I wanted. Then I cut off the top of the rear doors and filled in the door lines. I threw a Dspro snorkel on also. The top mocked up. I'll end it right there for now. |

Some more progress. Top glued on. I filled in the taillight holes since I won't be needing them. I filled in a slight gap on the top then sanded it down to keep the roof seam. I got a order in from lockeduprc with some sweet stuff. First thing is I ordered their scx10 II slipper eliminator. I switched the screws around in the motor mount so the nuts are on the spur side I had to use a few washers to space the spur out to clear. I also got another set of lockeduprc's awesome AO8 wheels. I think this is one of the first sets of AO8 Recluse wheels to be sent out. I went with stainless rings with 485 hubs. I opted out of scale ring hardware so the screws will be easier to remove. I'm really liking the stance. I also got some threaded pipe from lockeduprc I will need to throw a spacer in there but these will work good. I rebuilt the icon shocks turns out the guy I got them from didn't install bladders into the caps.. I replaced the spacer in the cartridge with a o ring from mini erevo shocks also mini erevo bladder in the cap used green slime throughout. I got some aluminum spring cups off ebay I think they look pretty cool. That's it for now. |
