Thought I would start my winter build now that it is December already!!! I know there are a thousand Jeep builds out there, but I like this body. I'm not going to do a beginning build list cause I don't know what all will be in this dang thing when I'm done! I'll try to throw my own spin at this to make it a little different than what is out there. This is what I have so far. I had to do a little saw work on the body underside to get the GCM tranny/t-case to fit. I'll rebuild the consol later to cover everything back up. If you have seen some of my other builds, I like to build with the new guys in mind. Sooooo it may be a little boring for some of you. But it should be fun. Hope you will ask questions and make suggestions. The 67 year old kid Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 12-05-2016 at 04:54 PM. |

Cool! This should be fun to follow, I like the fab work and very clean installation of the trans and transfer case. Will it be green Ernie?

I thought I would back up a couple steps to show the mounting brackets that I made to mount the Tranny/t-case to the GMC Skelton Chassis. I made the rear bracket out of 1/4" tubing, and flattened it in the vise. I'm going to use some ascender axles on this build. For those of you who don't make it to the Ascender section these have the Codyboy Design mod done to them. Both front and rear axle housings are drilled out and I make brass weighted beef tubes that are mounted in the machined housings. On the front is machined SSD c-hubs and knuckles, scxii uni that allow close to 60 degrees of steering. These are my Codyboy Steering. I know the ascender axle don't look as scale as some other axles but I wanted the extra clearance that they offer. This is a set on my K10, kind of shows the extra steering I get with the Codyboy Steering. Last edited by CODYBOY; 12-29-2016 at 09:22 PM. |

Do you think you could have lower the trans some by taking the skid off? Maybe low enough so you didn't have to cut the body up? Sent from my BLU LIFE ONE X using Tapatalk |

I plan on using axial Icon shocks, but they are way to tall for this chassis and body, so I need to shorten them. That was my task for today. You can see the difference in length of the stock shock shaft and the Losi MLST shaft, the one I will be using for this mod. I'm shortening the shock body 14mm. Machined shock bodies, and you can see the two shafts side by side. I did the "Hulkstra Mod" on these, HPI bladder, bleeder hole, and different O-rings. Mounted on the chassis and rear axle. It will not have a huge amount of travel, but more than enough for this rig It will be slow going on this build, so thanks for looking! Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 12-06-2016 at 08:57 PM. |

Those ascender axles are pretty slick! I like the smaller icon shocks too! |

Ernie A update to what I did today. I like the stance already, and I think the 66mm shocks are going to work fine. I still need to make the front upper link and design the pan hard bar. I think I need to do all of this before I can see how much I can lower the motor and tranny. Some more chassis shots showing the shortened shocks. Codyboy steering. Still a lot of adjusting to do, but no binding. Any suggestion or help???? Thanks for looking Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 12-08-2016 at 09:35 AM. | |

Stance, engineering with those "CODYBOY" signature parts and all around very well thought out modifications, just awesome! So cool to watch your builds come to life. Looking forward to more updates.

I finished the front upper link and the panhard bar and mount today! I made good use of some Lunsford Titanium turn buckles. Fully compressed and everything clears, (that took a little work)! I built another pair of front shocks that are 1/4" taller. I wanted a little more travel for the front set up I have. Pinion angle is pretty good up front and rear. No uni binding but the tires are just starting to touch the shocks. Getting close to starting a cage, sliders and bumper design. I wanted to do a two seater Like T-REX but not sure yet. Thanks for looking. Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 12-10-2016 at 07:46 PM. |

I REALLY like the stance of this rig. And that steering set-up is incredible! Great work, as always. |

I just got myself one of these bodies. I can't wait to get started on mine. I like everything you've done with this build so far. I may have to borrow some of your ideas, if that's ok? Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk |

Ok, I wanted to build a cowl type air intake for the hood. I was going to build it out of styrene! I have joe122 on speed dial. Changed my mind. If you have followed any of my other builds, you know I love to repurpose (right Chris81)! Sooooo I started walking around my shop looking for something that might look like a cowl for my jeep. I walked past a box of bodies I had set aside to sell some day. Hey, a New Bright 16 scale jeep!! I took it to the band saw and started cutting. Well, it might work? To wide, so I cut 3/8" out of the center. Built up the nose with a couple small pieces of styrene and shaped it a little. I'm pretty sure that is how Scott would do it! A little black hammer paint, (after about 4 coats of sandable primer), "primer on, primer off." Screen in front of the air intake. More to come later, thanks for looking!
