Default Project "Hack-a-lac" *2016 rebuild, now with 1.9s!

(Edit) since this thread is 6 years in the making some pics are dead. If you like pretty pictures you might need to start on page 3

Well, I need to get in gear and build a trail class rig, I originally was going to hack up a honcho and make a taco KOH style rig, but Zach did a nice job on that, and I want to try to make something of my own.

Tech sheet

-SCX-10 based
-hardened overdrive gears in front, standard HD gears in the rear
-Axial aluminum c's
-Axial high steer knuckles
-reduced 2.2 Rok Loks
-Holmes waterproof Torquemaster BR-XL
-3s maybe 4s
-CMS kit

But I still needed a body...

What better to do to a discontinued Proline body than cut it up?

Here is early mockup, everything is subject to change at this point I am just feeling it out, I think I might cut the top of the doors off.

I only have the axles built, I need to start on the rest of the kit, but I forgot to order a 4 link mount for the rear, so that is on the way from RPP.

I will probably land at about a 13 inch wheelbase and 10.5-11 inches wide.

Hopefully Vanquish launches those super bling wheels soon, I think they are going to earn a home on here.

stay tuned...

I can't think of a better thing to do to a Caddy body.

Figured it was about time to get this thing started, as I have less than a month to get it finished now (I want this to be my TTC entry for montana)

Got a good chunk of the main cage done today, cut the tops of the doors off, not sure if I will keep that pillar or not yet.

I need to move the front out a bit, going to have to hack up that sweet CMS setup to do so though

I still need wheels, I was waiting on those new bling Vanquish wheels, but I dont know that they will happen in time. I need something with a wide offset, otherwise I could steal the 4-dyce off my comp rig. ( I may still do that if i could figure out a widener setup that wasn't so wide...)

I'm not a huge fan of cadillac cars or trucks, but this looks great just like all your other builds!

Awsome I would keep the pillar, but maybe make it out of tin.Tie it into the tube work top and bottom. It keeps the caddy profile intact from the side view

that was the other thought, I usually make up the plan as I go, so I guess we will find out the next time I work on it

I do need to get moving on this, I hope to have the drivetrain and cage done by this time next week.

Ya, without the pillar there it would look like someone took any truck and put a caddy hood and grill on.

Watching the build...
