|  < $200 FJ scaler
When I saw Brian's (Squid121's) FJ Cruiser at the Augusta Scale Comp I knew I wanted to build one. My wife ordered two Tamiya Touaregs for builds - one for me, one for her Mater tow truck crawler  Spent a little time last night assembling the XC chassis and fitting the FJ body from ebay to the chassis. So far there's less than $200 invested in what you see in the pics.  The rest of the items for this one will be custom parts. Here's a few pics. That's funny I was checking out the Tamiya collection for a chassis that would fit WB wise. Like the dirty spare also. |

Shoot... As long as I've been doing this stuff she's never showed an interest. The only other RC she's ever had was a TAO2 F-150 back in '98. It wasn't until she actually drove a crawler that she decided to add one to the "honey do" list. Best advice...shove the TX in her hand. Make some excuse about how you "need her to drive it" so you can take pics. Rizzo, the XC type chassis can be built at 9.5" or a 10.5" wheelbase. This one is built at 9.5". It's not dead-nuts perfect but it's under there. I'd like to extend the rear links about 3/16" or so to get the rear tires centered in the wheelwells. ...and the dirty spare is from the old F-150 from '98. Nice teeth! That thing rocks. Gotta get my wife into it. She drove my TLT once, but didn't really show that much interest. Oh well. My son has dibs on the next project anyway. Gotta get a Wheely King!

That is super! Got to get rid of those Chrome wheels on Mater, or you can just say papa got a new pair of shoes. I can't get my wife involved. I already spend to much on this. If she starts we wouldn't make the house payment every month! Someone has to be the responsible one with our money. |
