| Looneybins 66 Chevy 4x4
Well when this body came out i had never found myself more excited about one particular rc item. My dad has had a 64/65 chevy pickup all of my life. I grew up with it and loved it as much as he did. I now have a fleet side short bed 65 in the old shop of my own waiting on a winning lotto ticket to build it up. This is a had to kinda build for me. Gonna be a nice simple scale k10. I plan on building a bigger 2.2 ar60 axled mega truck out of one as well bit thats a later story. Starting with a stock Vaterra Blazer. Bought it local rtr for $200. Good deal cause it was barely used. Bad thing is it had been wet and so much of the hardware was rusty and the drivetrain was froze up. Little Kroil after completely disassembling it and i had everything freed up. Got the gearbox cleaned and greased and put back in. Cant wait to get started once the body arrives!

Looks pretty good. Lil bigger than some proline bodies. Wheelwells are large and clear the big tsls good. Was planing to keep this one simple but the body mounts wont work so looks like it may get a metal floor pans so i can run velcro mounts. Still lost on color and wether or not to weather it.

Sorted the body mounting. Shortened the ascender chassis one hole which brought the rear shock towers into the box in the bed. Shaved some body posts and i will drill and tap them so a flat aluminum plate can be screwed down to hold velcro. The floor pans are made of aluminum and will allow velcro to be attatched for the sides. This will also be the start of the interior stuff. Gonna legnthen the rear of the chassis to the rear of the body. Going to go with a faded and worn red paint scheme with the white top.

I'm using the cab for my wrecker build. Going to steal your floor pan/velcro idea.

Aluminum can be such a good medium sometimes. Got the cab tub made out of some black aluminum i had and some black styrene for the door panels. Other than some inner fenders thats all im gonna do for now. Interior and cage soon to come. Got to gather up the paint and spray it.

Shaved the rear body mounts down. Drilled and tapped the top of the shock tower to provide a place to mount the styrene plate. Then up front i just cut the post off flat, drilled and tapped and did the same with the styrene. It will have velcro on both plates and two small peices on the sided of the tub to hold in the cab. Simple

Well i had gunmetal sitting here and it wound up on the truck. I like the look but not sure its gonna stay. Was planing on spraying the outside red and weathering it. Still undecided. Also still undecided on the front bumper. Gonna spray the chrome next and see what it looks like. Then ill decide if i like it or want the ascender bumper on it.

Well the chrome didnt come out. After backing with the black backer it came out very similar to the body color. Oh well is what it is im happey. This one is headed to the shelf. Gonna swap the links for some stainless ones and move one the next project.

Got my stainless links done. Got to reinstall all the electronics now. Color has grown on me. Im very pleased. Contomplating on putting some 2.2 wheels on it for that 22" look. But now its time to build the counterpart. Waiting on the chassis to arrive so i can start. 😜
