The CNC axles off the Mog got donated to the D90... Quite a simple swop. Same panhard setup used.

Default Custom Chinese D90 (Edited)

Now I’m sitting with some bad prop shaft angles and you all can only imagine how bad the jitter is now... Always something.

With all the time on my hands I decided to take another look at this chassis. I’m going to keep the axles on it but need to drop the transfer case about 12mm to fix the issue. While I was at it I moved the rear crossmember (bumper) forward 4mm and dropped it 2mm as it was protruding out past the body and the body was pushing down on it a lot. The front bumper also got moved out 3mm to accommodate the bush guard better and make space for the Z10 winch to clear the radiator grille as its only just not touching it at the moment.
The new rails were drawn of a blueprint to get the shape close. Battery tray can accommodate a large capacity 2s. Integrated coil spring retainers for the Tamiya CVA softs I’m using. Fixed shock locations for exactly where I’ve got it setup now. Servo is also shifted more to the left side of the chassis to make the pan-hard mount location easier for clearance. The links will all be shorter too, as the 1:1 doesn’t have silly long links...

We’ll just have to wait for everything to get a bit more normal for me to get this cut up. Thinking of doing this and the Samil all at once.

The mockup:

With this financial problem because of the pandemic I decided to give the chassis another look. I got some tools out and stripped it down to start figuring the best way to get around the jitter.
Moved the transfer case back one hole. Threw out the prop shaft on the planetary and went with my original dog bone setup again, because of the better adjustment as the universal prop was fixed.
Shortened the lower links by 25mm odd. Upper links also chopped accordingly.
Made a mount for a fuel cell and sorted the electronics.
Played around with the shocks to get some better “non dampening”.
Fixed the pre-load on the rear spring by raising the top mount 5mm. Running soft internal springs in the rear shocks with just enough 40wt oil to lube.
Front shocks have no internal springs with same oil setup as the rear.
Messed with the pan-hard some more. There’s basically zero bump steer.

Ran it in the yard real quick. Seems a lot better, well, the jitter is gone. Happy with that.

Will try and get it in the rough sometime to see how the suspension does. Yes, the idea is for it to be a sway monster.

Looks good, all of the accessories complement the truck accordingly. It looks like a legit d90. Nice.

Thanks!

Threw on the Choodoo’s to see how the clearances in the arches are with the new links. All is still cool.

Also plugged the holes in the tires to run these sealed on the next outing.
