GCM J2 skeleton SSD D60 eBay China jeep JK 2door build

I was hoping to buy an RTR eBay China jeep JK 2door, but, no luck. So, I'm going to build a few myself. I did some research and there are several ways of doing this build. I've seen some built based on an Axial chassis, RCmodelEX, and GCM. There are probably others, also custom are possibilities. However, I decided to go the GCM route. I ordered the last 2 of these: GCM USA Webstore - J2 SSD-D60 ULTIMATE Combo Got them the other day. I waited an extra week since GCM USA was out on an event and didn't come back until 10/2/2017. Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of what I have so far.

I will be watching, I picked up the body, and happen to have a new set of deadbolt axles (scx10), not sure if I will use those or not.

yeah, I'm waiting on the 2 China JKs in the mail myself. One in red and one in yellow, with the rollbars, not the hardtop. Last I looked at tracking for one of them, it is in Stamford, CT. Expected delivery date is Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 by 8:00pm. Hopefully it is the yellow one, as the seller stated on eBay, but the pictures showed the red color. As far as the axles go, if you decide not the use the SCX10 axles, all the internals will work on the SSD D60 axles. GCM has the ultimate combo kit for the original SCX10, SCX10 II, RC4WD, and, of course the SSD D60. Most are out of stock though. Which chassis are you going to use?

I like the idea of the GCM because it was designed for these bodies, funny how well a stock deadbolt chassis fits tho. By the time you change to a fwd motor and a transfer case, the gcm looks even better/

The D90 chassis works pretty well, as an alternative. This is the Boom Racing D90 chassis, positioned under a China 2-Dr Jeep body.

Always love a good Skeleton build, especially one that I could see out on the trails in my area.

My Skeleton has been rock solid since the day I built it.



Have you thought about electronics? Fitting everything on the electronics tray requires some small components or finding another home for the battery. Where the battery will be mounted will likely effect how you mount the body. Needing a screwdriver to change batteries gets old quickly.

@svt923, yeah, I'll be following the videos I posted above to help me with the build. As far as electronics goes, Tx & Rx will be the FlySky FS-GT3B. Esc is the HobbyWing QuicRun WP1080. Motor will be 27T at first, to see if I want it or something else. Servo is Hitec HS-7955TG. Battery will probably be a ValueHobby LiPo.

Awesome anothe jk build in this area. An idea for battery mounting I did was remove the back seat and build a floor and took box. Works pretty good. Fits my 2400 50c venom no problem. Would show pics but not computer literate enough I guess

You're better off looking into it now before you get body mounts figured out. Mine is securely mounted, but I'm having a hell of a time trying to get everything to fit, front tray is only so big, which means I might need to take my receiver out of the case to make some room...

I see the driveline pics, what did you end up going with?

I ordered my gcm chassis as well but I am going with the TMX axles
