Default Matzilla Crew Cab F-350 Angus

I decided to treat myself to a new project. Lou still has it right now. I sent him the body and SSD trans and a little inspiration. Here is where it is now.

This is going to be a bit top heavy. I have some D35 axles I am planning to use. If they don't cut the mustard I will have to hit up Ernie for some Codyboy's or maybe try the SSD Pro44s.The SSD trans is made for SCX10ii axles gear ratio which seems to copy the Ascender's. For the record I have asked Lou to add some stuff to make it look cool IMO. He was against it but I had to explain that I am going for cool scale, putting light weight performance in the back seat. This truck will weigh a ton, fitting for a 1 ton scale truck. Stay tuned for more pictures.

Scx10 II ratio and ascender ratio are very different. Scx10 II is 3.75. Ascender is 1.85. That's a giant difference.

Built some Gmade RSD 100mm shocks. Dusted off some D35s I've been saving. Pulled the interior out of a Nissan hardbody I couldn't sell. I will have to make some links and measure the drive shafts. Hopefully I'll be able to find some kind of MIP combo that will work. I am concerned about the rear driveshaft length with the SSD trans. All I need is the chassis. It should be here Monday. I packed my Christmas list with the rest of the goodies I need. One problem I have is I bought a 3 link bracket for the front axle from rcrecycler and it doesn't appear it fits. I doesn't clear the pumpkin. The 4 link rear fits fine. Anyone have any knowledge to share?

Cool project! It may not be a performer, but it will certainly be an attention getter! I love crewcabs and I love truggies. Can't go wrong with the mashup! Keep up the good work.

That's exactly what Lou said. I told him I was going for cool over function. The box he shipped it in was 5 lbs. That makes the cab, chassis and trans at least 4lbs I would imagine. Definitely going to be a beast.

She arrived today in all her glory. Man, Lou does great work. Here she is on the scales. Body, transmission/transfer case and chassis. 3.5 lbs. She is not really going on a diet either.

Need a little help/ reassurance. I am working on my links. Here is what I think I know. Please correct me if I'm wrong and tell me what I don't know.

Rear

Upper and lower links should be parallel

Upper and lower links should be same length if possible

Front

Upper and lower links should be parallel

Panhard and steering links should be as long as possible and be as parallel as possible

Questions I have:

Do the rear shocks need to be perpendicular to the frame? Is the a benefit of angling them on way or the other?

How far can I rotate my front axle forward to get a better pinion angle? Is there a known happy place angle?

I have 3/16 and 1/4 inch Stainless for the links. Both fit 4-40 all thread tightly. I was thinking to use the 1/4 for the lower links for extra weight down low and durability. The 3/16 everywhere else. Opinions?
