Pictures of D35s mounted. Probably not staying on for long. They are to narrow for me. I got them for my TF2 and had not installed them yet. Hopefully there are some SSD AR44s in my stocking. I'm stilll adjusting links and panhard so ignore the panhard mount on the axle it's just for trial and error.

Since this truck is so top heavy I wanted as much weight down low as possible. Here is my solution. SSD Pro44s, SSD brass knuckles, Samix brass Chubs and link mounts, Incision universals, VP locker, Axial HD gears and Fast Eddie bearings. 359 grams up front. This is minus hexes, pins and grease. Hopefully this will help keep her upright.

Rookie working on link geometry. I'll figure it out. Don't bust me yet.

Best advice on a proper cms/panhard setup is:

Both links should be equal length (eye to eye even if one has to be bent over the axle housing), both should be as close to the same plane as possible, both should be as close to parallel to the axle as possible at ride height, both should be as close to parallel looking down on the rig, both should be as long as possible. The degree that that they are off will grow bump steer exponentially.

Obviously you're locked into how the chassis is built unless you decide to fab a new panhard mount to get the link in a better position, which is easily done by using a suspension bracket of some nature bolted to the chassis.

Hope that helps a little.

Also, at ride height, the axle should be centered. The nature of the other geometries will affect how much the axle swings out from under the body which is why I mentioned panhard and drag as long as possible and as close to parallel to the axle as possible. Shorter, steeper links will swing a lot more.

This video is misleading unless you look closely and see that my drag link is bent around the shock. If it was a straight shot, it would be on the same plane as the panhard.

Thanks. What about rear links? Do the upper and lowers need to be the same length? I have read they need to be parallel. I put both on parallel then bent the lowers for clearance. Now the uppers are touching them slightly. I will need to bend them as well. Any drawback to that?

That is some good input from Bulldog. Hey Cary, looks like you are on the right track. Your upper and lower links can be different lengths.
Working on maybe getting to see this in person this fall????

You and Marcia are always welcome! I'll try to get some pictures of the links this week.

Rear links I think are good for now. Waiting on some pins and locking hexes. Should be here tomorrow. Front still needs some adjustments. I'm either going to make a droop kit or try some shorter shocks. It sits to high for me on 100mm shocks. Another issue I discovered. Being an Ascender guy I didn't realize Axial used wider balls. So every thing is loose. I have shimmed some stuff then I decided to order some Samix Stainless balls.

Super cool build. I actually like the D35's but the diff is huge.

FWIW, the rear upper and lower links don't need to be the same length. The only thing that really matters out back is antisquat, if there's enough triangulation of links to prevent wearing out the rod ends too quick, and the diff rotating around the suspension like you want to maintain good driveshaft velocities. TLDR - Don't overthink the rear, pretty much whatever works.

Also, fwiw, 80mm shocks would be sweeeeeeeeeet, but I build lowriders.

Looking good Cary! Do yourself a favor and take a look at these shocks, probably the smoothest shock you will ever have in your hand. I ordered the stiff springs, and they are just right on by TRX4.
Dlux Fab

I put spacers under the piston to shorten them up a little.

I will do that what is the diameter of these? I went with the RSDs because of the scale appearance. I have a set of proline 100mm shocks and I thought they looked to big. Rhett loved them though.

I will measure when I get out to the shop. I would say same dia. as the proline, but with the springs not going up the barrel they appear smaller.

Pics on my TRX-4

Here are my steering and panhard links. No where close to equal. They were pretty close to parallel with each other looking down and from the front. ????
