One more thing. Dad installed his Codyboy axles today. He is in for a treat. Old Yeller won't have that advantage anymore.

I'm loving the stance in post #76 and all the scale touches. The only thing that drives me nuts is the body holes. There's two ways of thinking...it's necessary and a given, or 1:1s don't have three four inch holes in the body. Now that I point it out it may bug you too or not. Some of the best builds out there have them, but if you're chasing scale and go to great lengths...I'd rig a set of magnets and do away with them. More thinking, and more engineering, but that's part of the fun. Not to mention you can pop your body off quickly and get to the innards.

That is what the diamond plate is for. I'm going to add rocker panel cover along the bottom to cover the holes and use magnets on the body. You and I think alike. I don't know if you have seen the aluminum diamond plate but is is very, very thin. It will cover the holes, match the truck, and make it look even tougher. I was also going to use the diamond plate on the back of the cab. The body is molded in black and I don't want to do the body work because that will force me to paint it.
I'm really struggling with the tinted glass covering the interior details. It just looks so cool. As for the stance that will be real close to what I want. I have some soft and medium springs coming for the RSDs. I am hoping they will give me what you see. Currently I removed the hard springs that come with them and put stock Ascender bottom springs on. This gave me the ride height but they are to short. It does give me about a 60% droop which should work well.

Thanks for the compliments.

A little dashboard detail you will probably never see behind tinted glass.

A custom truck should have a custom grill.(especially if you need clearance for a bigger winch)

Instead of a "how to" I'll show you how I do. I'm sure others have posted this technique but in case this is the first time looking at a build... I use magnets as clamps all the time they are very handy. One on either side of styrene to clamp or prop. In this case my body has to be flexed "open" at the bottom to install it. If I were to bond the cab back I wouldn't be able to install it because I would loose the flex in the rear. I still need to cover the back of the cab though. So I am attaching the diamond plate to the cage. Yes there will be the slightest of gaps. The truck is black and the interior is black so the gap will be hidden in the darkness. Additionally Lue's work is so good there is barely any gap anyway. I will probably attach a small flexible foam to cover if there is to much gap. Back to the magnets. I used a thick, stiff paper to make my pattern so I don't screw up good diamond plate. I used the magnets to hold it to the cage so I could trace the cage on to the paper. Then test fit and subsequently transfer to the diamond plate. Here are some pics. I will post finished product when it's complete.

Magnets can hold while glue sets too.

You are doing a good job putting it all together, Cary. Are you happy with the shake down run? It is a little different than your ascender so remember it is going to tune differently.

I just about have my ascender portals designed, machined and put together.

It's top heavy as expected. I'm going to add some weight to the wheels. 55 turn on 3s seems perfect for crawling. Might need 40 turn for trails. I made some rear light pods last night. I'll post pics soon.
