Default Mercedes Unimog crawler

Hey boys and girls. I thought it was about time to post up some pics of my Unimog.
I must admit I was completely inspired by distinctive PD Unimog build.

I was so blown away by the build I knew I need a Mog.

So I started on my chassis with some 3/16" DOM tubing and went to town.

I opted for silver solder to put the chassis together, and this worked for a while. Later I had to come back and TIG braze some of the more structural parts.

Since I wanted a front motor setup and not to totally copy distinctive PD I went with a Toyzuki SCX 10 motor mount.
Axles are standard SCX 10 XR width up front rocking some Beef Tubes and a Locked Up RC Heavyweight spool, to keep the weight down low.
Vanquish scale C's and Knuckles are out at the ends to handle the steering needs.
Out back I stayed with SCX 10 width, but still added Beef Tubes and a Locked Up RC heavyweight spool.

Thanks much guys! I really had a blast doing the chassis. You would think once you have done a full size cage that a small one would be easy...lol

I was going through some photos and I found some more of the chassis as I was building it.

Excellent work.

I’ve got a soft spot for mogs. The distinctive one now resides with me. I did a few mods to it make it my own.

I’ve since added dig and 4ws and it’s rather fun to drive.

Well did some more work on the little rig.
Here is a shot in the scale shop...
I used a temporary servo mount to get all my links right, and noticed it had a ton of flex, so I built one from 6061 aluminum. It does not flex like the old one.

Another shot...

I have some small updates. Since my Tamiya Unimog body was not meant to be a truggy. I had to build a cab rear wall for it.

In the pic you can see how I attached it to the chassis via some 3mm button heads.

In the next pic I need to keep my wiring tidy and out of the revolving bits so I built this tunnel and cab floor, so I wouldn't tear anything up.

That is it for now...Thanks guys and girls for taking a look.

Love mog builds, so hard to hide everything and make it look clean. Cage work looks great too!

Thanks much! Trying to hide everything in the cab has been tough. I really wanted a full interior, but I think all I will be able to fit is a half interior.

Well I have some more build updates for my little rig...

Here is the floor before the driveshaft tunnel installed...

I was concerned about the driveshaft tearing into my wiring after time so...

The tunnel should protect all my wiring from the spiny bits.

Now time for a battery tray. The cab is starting to get pretty crowded, looking like I am not going to get my full interior...

That is it for now. Thanks for looking

You have fabrication skills that I wish I had!

Great chassis! And nice start to the interior!

Which wheels are you running in the 3rd photo in the original post?

Looks great bro! Can't wait to see it done! MOGs are some of the coolest rigs out there in my opinion. Keep up the awesome work!

Working on my Axialfest prep...I got my 2D interior pretty much where I want it.

I may add a few little detail pieces even though it would be really tough to see them in the cab.

Also I had been stalking the Vanquish page so I could pick up a set of the new Incision rebuild-able driveshafts.

They are very nice!

Thanks for looking
