Re: Cheap ford f150 trail truck

Cut the trans plate. Drilled some holes. Countersunk the trans mount holes. Threw on some 55mm spacers. Plan on making a new motor plate. Or might just cut a spare up. Im going to put the highest turn motor possible with the smallest pinion possible. Might help the gearing out lol. As im working with what i already have.

Total cash in the build so far... $15. And thats for the rails. Everything else has been acquired either through trade or for free.

6 suspension brackets and some tlt link mounts later.. These highlift axles are done! 3 link with panhard front and rear.

Also picked up a axial 55t brushed motor. So now i have to cut up a spare lnc trans motor plate to keep the fwd motor mount. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b20c6d938a.jpg

Its never gonna go away lol. At least i dont think. I also have another swb body. I think its a datsun?

This build is going quicker than i thought. All that is left is links, chassis servo mount, and i have to pick a battery and esc.

Spare motor mount cut, drilled, countersunk, and fitted up. I think i have room to add a gru and lower the motor without hitting the front driveshaft at full compression.

If you find the trans to be geared too high for ring and pinion axles, Ive seen it paired with a hammer tcase and it worked great with good reduction and alot less motor heat.

Good looking ford body "thumbsup"

if its geared to high, I have a few gru's from great planes. I think I will end up having to use one, but im going to leave the motor and trans as is right now.

thanks for the thumbs up guys. and this ford body was suprizingly never ran. it collected dust in my buddies closet. he gifted it to me for rebuilding his Subaru motor.

if I had a Tamiya highlift trans.. that might have found its way in this build. but for now im going to stick with what I got. this is gonna be a sweet backpacker.

Re: Cheap ford f150 trail truck

Decided to go narrower on the chassis. This should help with link geometry. But not with space for electronics haha. Going to sketch up a servo mount with room for a servo winch! And going to also sketch up a battery plate and maybe a esc plate.

I think im getting into this build a little more than i should. Cant keep it simple i guess lol. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ee72221731.jpg

haha. right. well, it only took me about meh, 15 minutes to get the esc mount and the dual servo mount done. just need to put my shapeways order in. but before I do that.. I think im going to try and scrounge up some og ax10 battery mounts. I know I have 1, but I might run 2 batteries in it.

ive got these dromida 2s batteries for my xl I never fly. I think they are 2200 mah? so I could mount them on the outside of the chassis rails because they are so slim. I could easily bend up some aluminum to guard them on the trail.

Small trucks are cool! But these tires are not small haha.

I got me a datsun to work on next.

Datsun??

Oh I cant wait to see that!!!"thumbsup"

And for the servos did you do them side by side longitudally? That's how mine fit on my ascender with room to spare on both sides. Stuck my rx up there too."thumbsup"

Servos will be parallel with the rails. Only .5mm of space between rails and servo. Between the servos might be 5mm?

3 links front and rear done. Found cracks in my axle housings...

And the esc and motor plate. Trying to keep the rails as rigid as possible.
