Bam!
I Cleaned the chassis with scotch brite and sprayed 3 coats of steele it roughly 6 hours apart. I let the chassis dry for another day and then pictured before assemble.

I made a new titanium tie rod and had to make a new roof panel because of the new light bar tube work.

How I restore bent, dent, and scratched sliders:

I first scotch brite the aluminum sliders. I sand with 80 grit to get the deep dents smooth. I then sand with 120 continuing up to 250, 400, and 600. when done sanding I wash with simple green for a shiny, smooth, and new looking slider!

New 1/16 steel panels added for chassis strength, low front weight bias, and keeps debris out!

At the July 6 2019 Activated Outlaw Get together After 3 Courses and some trail time Forty-Ones sway bar bolt stripped so I will be putting some new sway bar on or making a new one.

This brings Forty-Ones build thread up to date. The next build plans are to fix sway bar, make a trail video and get a Castle Creations sensored 1900kv or 2280KV four pole brushless motor to gear down.

Forty One was used extensively for the testing of the new #deuceswildfoams DUAL STAGE closed cell and the Heavy Weight closed cell. The latest and greatest is now available for your own build"thumbsup"

Crawler Innovations is out with another first. Introducing our dual stage closed cell foam pair. This new product features our dense car stand foam, cut and shaped into the inner foam. This dense inner, offers superior steering response, and a firm foundation for the second stage. The second stage is our standard gray foam. Combined this pairing is 100% water proof.

CWR-3201 was designed for use in the Pitbull Tires 1.9 Rock Beast Tire (PB9003NK - standard height) but will fit many other brands of tires as long as they are similar in height and width. Examples are the RC4WD IROK, and the Ottsix KLR. The dual stage height is the same height as the original CWR-3001.

These foams are much firmer than anything available on the market. They do not fold over under load whether it's high speed, heavy weight, or simply turning. These foams rely on a small air gap between the foam and tire. This loose area allows for the tire to obtain traction, while the foam supports the tire.

If you are interested in completely filling the tire with foam and do not care about waterproofness, the Lil Nova 4.25, 4.50, 4.75" Outers will stretch over this pairing. Those outer P/N's are CWR-2047, CWR-2048, CWR-2049. These outers are cut from conventional foam and are not water proof.

Approximate size: 4.0" Height x 1.50" Width (Remember that foam goes inside the tire and one must subtract lug and carcass thickness, plus any reinforcing from the overall tire height.)

Price is $27.95

Hey Gavin, great work! I got a question. Seems I read that you taught yourself tig welding and thats how you make your cages. What amp setting you at? I decided to learn tig welding myself and picked up a fancy machine. I read that you should be running your amps at 1 per thousandth of an inch. 3/16" is 185 thousandths so I had my amps cranked up to 180 and it was blasting right through that 3/16 solid rod. I managed to tack together some experiment cages but when I try to finish the welds the torch just cuts through like a lightsaber.

Yeah I self taught myself how to Tig weld but with that said I dont go by the book. I have found that using a .035 filler for tacks at 80 amps with DOM tube works and on finish welds. When using rod the amps can bumped up to 130 (No set limit just what I found works) but i dont use all the amps cause of the foot peddle. I also use 1/16 filler sometimes when finish welding tubes. Be careful when welding to not over do it, the chassis will warp with high amps, fast amp drops or gains, and alot of heat. Make sure your steel is clean, I use scotch brite and acetone on all weld joints. Dirty steel=Bad weld. Clean steel=good weld
Play around with different amps as the electrode size, filler rod size and tube size all play as a variable.

1/16 2% Thoriated (Red) Tungsten, 100% Argon, ER70S-2 .035 and 1/16 filler rod, 70 amps to 130, 10sec postflow.

Thanks, thats a huge help. Gives me a place to start from thats more reasonable than 180 amps lol

Re: "Forty One" by Ayala Metal Works for Crawler Innovations; 1.9 Ultra4

Are you interested in having your RC building and rc driving skills tested? Crawler Innovations and Ayala Metal Works are all about building and driving hobby grade RCs to the limit. "Activated Outlaw" competition crawlers was created for this reason with the focus of creating a sanctioning body that is fair, fun, and repeatable. CI and AMW have been hosting a Get Together on the first Saturday of every month at a local park in 2019.

Gavin and I (Edmundo Ayala) will be driving and filming RC cars on November 2, 2019 at the Goodman-LeGrand House & Museum in Tyler, Texas.

Start Time 10:00AM

Goodman-LeGrand House & Museum
624 North Broadway Avenue
Tyler, Texas 75702
(903) 531-1286
gmuseum@tylertexas.com

Goodman-LeGrand House & Museum Web Site:
http://www.parksandrec.cityoftyler.o...anLeGrand.aspx

The courses will be set based on the rc vehicles in attendance. So whatever the majority of the group has to drive, that is what we will run. No one will be turned away, and every RC will have a chance on course.

Consider this your formal invite to stop by, drive your RC car and meet other hobbyists. This is not a competition or full blown event. This a get together with focus on driving and visiting. I hope to see you there and possibly get your RC car on camera.

Activated Outlaw Comp Crawlers is free to participate, open to all ages, and this months overall low score driver will receive a Free Big Block RC Car Stand for their feat.
