Default Muh 3racing EX Real JK Rubicon

So here it is. Just about the cheapest scale 1.9 build you can make that still works and looks good.

Cellphone pix.

Had to do a lot of cutting inside. Still have to mod the dashboard and tranny tunnel to fit.

You don't need a dremel when you have a drill and a knife. And you don't care about clean cuts

This is how it sits. Chassis rails against the bottom of the body, as low as it can get.

Replaced the rod ends on the rear with some shorter ones I had lying around to bring the wheelbase closer to the body's 270mm.

Now the problem is that there's barely any room left for electronics. I can fit a 2200 2s above the motor, but not a 3s (that's fine).
The batt, ESC and RX will be attached to the body, I think, under the hood.

I need to waterproof the Rx as there's no box (I could put something on the rear bench but I think I'll keep everything up front).

Have a cheap set of 4 LEDs that fit in the factory buckets too. Any ideas how to attach the wiring to the body, besides just going over everything with duct tape?

In a hardware store near the zip/cable ties you should be able to find these little guys that have adhesive tape on the back. You stick them to the inside of body and then you can tie the wires to them. They don't need to be big so I usually cut them in half or smaller.

Thanks, I think I have a couple of those that came with my PC case... somewhere.

It's gonna be a cool little trail truck, if only the wheels weren't so ugly. Maybe paint them something dark and replace the screws. Who the hell decided that old school skinny wheels and tires meant to fit a D90 needed golden screws!?

Or... for 20 something $ I can get a set of chinese metal beadlocks, plenty to choose from.

Finished it, well enough for a test drive.

The motor is crap and the hexes are crap.

Pix and/or video to come.

In case anyone's reading this thread...

It's a stock 3racing EX Real kit with an eBay JK hardbody. Only deviation from stock is that I filled the front rims with some wire and cut a channel in the front foams, and replaced the rear rod ends with shorter ones. Well that, and I didn't install the shift servo stuff, radio box nor the battery plate.

Motor is included in the kit, a gutless 35T sealed 540 can. It'll do while it lasts.
ESC is a Hobbywing 1080 because what else.
Servo is a JX PDI 6221, the 20kg cheap servo hotness.
I'm using my Turnigy TS4G aka Radiolink RC4g radio.

Right now everything is under the hood, attached to the body, but replacing the battery is a pain this way and the wires get all over the place.
I'll have to put the battery somewhere in the rear, probably on the rear bench, because there's just no room below, with the body sitting right on the chassis. Not liking the idea as the weight distribution will be about 50:50 but what the hell, it's a trail truck, not performance oriented in any way.

Čitamo ovo majstore

I think 3Racig kit is just made for JK body.
You can actually fit 2S 2200mAh left and right to gearbox I think.... In total 4400mAh in parallel.

I was just looking at that solution yesterday, I'll have to do some metalwork to make a mount for the packs and electronics around the gearbox, only problem is I don't have the tools... and I'm shit at fabricating stuff.

It's looking very nice, did you use the kit supplied bodymounts for that body or something else?

Kit supplied, I have to get some pictures of the way it's mounted.

In the front I had to raise them a bit, and in the rear they're mounted to the rear chassis brace. Used 2 sided tape to attach the magnet cups to the body. Once all 4 of the magnets hook up they really hold!

Stripped a rear hex the other day.
Ordered cheapo aluminum hexes and steel wheels from aliexpress.

Oh yeah, added a shift servo between the rear shock towers!

Used some leftovers to connect it to the gearbox: 2 pieces of allthread, an internally threaded post and a servo mount. Works fine, using a 10-ish kgcm analog servo, perfect for the task.
