Thanks Duke! Did a little work today on the little bug.

Added a permanent panhard mount and removed the front bumper for V.2.

First thought.

Final version. Might add some gussets or smaller gusset rods.

With body.... but the body will come up slightly after the sliders are reinstalled. The front hoop doesn’t look so tall.

Back on Roach past few days. Ran the chassis and some bits through my media cabinet. I love the uniform.

Worked on some shock hoops today

Now I just need to weld them to the frame.

Loving this build! Just goes to show that I need to learn to weld.

Thank you sir! I love that you are loving the little bug. I am self taught and actually purchased a welder just for scale rc many years ago. Lol. I’m getting old. Many years of burning metal and I’m still learning neat tricks. Great hobby booster and very relaxing .

Thank you. It’s been a long busy week. I’m chilling this evening and assembling these.

I will be back on the frame tomorrow and hope to have a roller by Sunday.

Starting with welding on the hoops

I finished welding all the shock hoops on the frame. I wasn’t going to paint the frame but figured it would be smart with snow on the ground here this evening. Had some nice weather Saturday and Sunday so I took advantage. I ended up going with a dark walnut paint. Kinda has similarities to the dark oily brown of a Roach.

After I painted the chassis I decided I had better brace the shock hoops and add a few more welds while I was at it. So this is the final version of the frame for now with a few more coats of paint.

Should have this thing back together soon for the final time. Then paint for the lid and sort body mounts.

Current state of Roach. Fully linked and tuned shocks. Drivetrain in and electronics installed. Just need to button up wires and finish body mounts.

Very inspiring build! I've picked up a scorcher body and I'm gathering parts to do a similar build.

I see you've trimmed up a few spots on the fenders and shaved down the nose.

What wheelbase did you end up with?
I was planning somewhere around 10 1/2"

Thank you. Keep us posted with your upcoming build... Yes I trimmed as tasteful as possible. The nose was shaved to bring the body down and the fenders are trimmed to clear the massive 4.19 tires... Roach can stuff and turn with no worries of interference. I will double check but this one ended up somewhere between 10 1/4 to 10 1/2 wheelbase
