Nice weather over the weekend, gave me the motivation I needed to get some painting done. Still gotta add the details and fab a couple of small things, but I wanted to show it off. Sorry for the crappy pic...I'll get some better ones when it's done.

Hi 58 Willys, I'm building a 46 PW also on my Element builders kit frame. I noticed that there are no body post. How did you mount the body? I'm still working on a way to mount without the post.
Also, on the bed, did you 3D print a piece to fill the gap where you cut the body post mount bump?
Thanks

I'm doing the same on the Element kit. I swapped out for shorter Proline 70-75mm shocks as I felt the ride height and over all travel was too much. Right now on Pitbull 1.55 wheels and tires. I feel like the tire height is okay at 4.19 but I need a little more width.

Right now I am using the rock rails to mount the body with some velcro while I figure it all out. This won't be the permanent solution though.

The bed was completely cut out and I built a styrene bed that is inserted into the remaining lexan bed. The cab and bed are bolted together. The bed gets bolted to the rear frame cross member (originally the rear body post mounting brace) and the rear slider mount with stand-offs under the bed to keep it all level. The cab gets attached with the heavy duty snap velcro on the sliders directly..

Thanks...you are so right. I'm a big believer in details, because they add the little bit of extra that seems to complete the overall look.

Nice...mine are the Proline TSL SX Super Swampers, at 4.3".

Yep...that's what I did. They should hold up pretty good. If that doesn't work, I'll give the magnet setup a try.

Here's a couple of pics of the bed insert...

I love your work on this, one of my favorite PW builds so far. I was looking at the RC nerd products but for the price and finish I'm not sure. I picked up the light kit from Powershiftrc and I am in the process of painting the front light buckets then smoothing out. So far so good.

I think I am going to work on the grill once I get the body mounting finalized. I have used magnets in the past, but always had a hard time between too strong and not strong enough.

The price is why I only selected a couple of items. I wanted to save a little time and energy in recreating the items like, the dash and gauges, cab side lights, shifter levers and front bumper with the winch. I'm going to finish the details tomorrow.

What is the best way to glue the rear fenders of the bed and cab together?
Before or after paint?
CA glue or E6000?

Your build is giving me great ideas and inspiration.

That’s easily the best scale representation of a power wagon interior I’ve ever seen. Great work sir

I didn't glue the bed to the cab, I put it together with screws and nuts. I did the fitting before I painted them, then separated them and painted the two pieces.

Thank you...some of the parts are from Shapeways, and some are scratch.

That looks fantastic M and M! Looks like you did the bed exactly how I did mine...very cool.

Thanks for tuning in. Not sure how soon this will be driven but, as of today, it will be put aside so I can pursue some scratch building...I want to get my Waggy going.

Here's a couple of pics from today with a little nostalgic flair added in. Sorry for the bad color variance, the sun shine was just too much today. It really looks more like the pic of it on the bench.

Well done Willys, it's exceptional without question. It looks like just rolled off the Dodge assembly line in 1946!!

Thanks Stormin. I can't believe how it took me to finish it up. Life always seems to mess with my "me time".
