Default Ratrod winter project

I bought this project of a fella local here, and it was setup as a direct drive off the motor. I didnt have alot of room so I went with the Rc4wd R3 single speed trans setup, worked out perfect! It couldnt climb over a dead ant before and now it climbs and crawls great! I am in the process of tuning the suspension and will probably replace the tired, overworked 35t that is in there with a HH 27t torque master...should be a fun project and is my first leaf spring crawler

I got a 27t HH TM coming for the Rat and am still deciding on what tires to put on it... I like the looks of the rok lox, but am still looking for options. Anyone have a thought on what would look good on the Rat?

thing is so apocalyptic, Its screaming for some nasty boggers I think, although I hate them. Maybe some of the TTC Mickeys?

yea, a few have suggested boggers but I just dont like the look of them... might look at the TTC Mickeys.... I made the body mounts on the bottom of the interior but the initial location was just a tad off to the rear, I have since moved the body forward about 3/16 of an inch to center the rear tires in the fenders...

I got a Holmes Hobbies 27t TM expert here off the classidieds, now it works like I think it should for a leafed crawler....I am going to try the original size of Flat Irons on this rig, I think that will give it the look I am going for

I am putting headlights in the rat this week, using the warm white LED's for that old time headlight look...

ok, I have a bit of an update, got a lot of progress done on the Rat, the headlights turned out great! I weathered/rusted them as well as a new set of steel bead locks with flat irons..also made front and rear bumpers as well as a trailer hitch.. for some reason pics are refusing to load..will try again in a few minutes.

I made a latch for the battery compartment from the bull horns included in the axial 10.2 parts trees...worked out well, slides back and forth.

Yup, the previous owner did that when he built it...it really is a great rig. I am jumping into the leafed crawler pool with this rig.

It performs very different from my linked rigs but it does much better than I thought it would.
