So here's my cut lines for the body. And I need to decide if I want to build for 4.19 or 4.75 tires. Thoughts? Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk |

The bigger tire seems more appropriate, but the smaller one seems more likely to be the size someone building a 1:1 version would use. Hope that helps. |

I think, to be competitive in C2 4.75 is a no brainer. Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk

4.19 looks much better IMO. Did you ever consider using four Traxxas drag slicks? Or the eBay slicks for the Tamiya wheelie machines? |

I am still building a crawler. But I think I am going to print a second set of wheels to have street tyre setup. Im thinking if I do go 4.75, it will be something with a smaller lug than the Krawler, like the Proline KM3 4.75" Predators. Another option is 4.45 tires like the Boom Racing Hustler MT/x, But i dont like how zagressive it looks. The next thing I am yet to decide is power. I am usually 110% brushless, but I am tempted to try a brushed setup. This is mainly a price based decision, but also I want to see what keeps pro level rigs on brushed power. I started looking at Holmes brushed offering and got very lost very quickly. Turns, magnets, hand wound machine wound. I want something that can still get up and boogie speed wise, but has excellent startup torque and hold.

I find with motors, low turn geared down works well for good low speed resolution and bulk torque. Ie, my last scx was heavy. I had a 12turn motor with a 12/86 gear and UD axle gears. On 2s it had good wheel speed but gobs of torque. Anything higher turn just didn't have speed or the torque in fact. As for brushless, I found myself liking 1/8 buggy motors, 4 pole and also geared down with reasonable success. Under 3000kv and four pole for smoothness and still has enough wheel speed for a bit of fun. Tiny bit of cogging coz not sensored but nothing to complain about really as long as ur esc has good low speed resolution. |

Nice, the Holmes motors are a good bit of kit. The 550 spins a little slower than an equivalent turn 540 but make up for it with more torque. On 3s u could afford to gear it even further down if u wanted because of the rpm gain from 3s |

I know these aren't the cheapest but If you want to see what HH does thats special I'd go for a Crawlmaster (5 slot), the 550 version is one of my favorites. the 10-13 turns can get up and boogie depending the on gearing. I think the 4.19" looks best but an in between size would be good too, the (the no XL) Proline TSL's are 4.5" I believe also pretty aggressive tread though. This spreadsheet is pretty useful in finding tires in the size you want RCC Tire Spreadsheet Last edited by HumboldtEF; 09-12-2019 at 09:37 PM. |

I just check out the Pitbull range of tires. Im thinking the Braven Berserker 4.35" might be perfect! |

I'd run the 21t 550, my Trailmaster Sport in that configuration works great in my Ascender - also paired with the HobbyWing 1080ESC. Oh yeah, that's with 3S... 12t would likely run too hot, IMHO. (BTW, can't wait to see the rest of this build!)

| Re: Chopped and Dropped Class 2 D90 Kinda funny I was thinking reading through your build that a 4.3-4.5 tire would be the best in between for size and the berserker would look nice. Kinda a purpose built look to it.

Yeah the Berserkers look like a perfect fit, I forget about the 1.9's. I really like my 1.5 Berserkers they hook up nicely.

Bit of an update. Got the front offset axle designed. The centre will actually be a SSD Pro44 centre. I just mocked up a Pro centre for measurement. The way I build these SSD centred axles is a 9.52mm OD brass tube is the spine of the axles and slide into the axle centre. The axle tubes I print and slide over the outside of the brass tube. For the first time I have used the scx10ii bolt on link mounts. For my comp axles, I usually print link/shock mounts onto the outer tube. Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk |

I also need to make a decision if I should run CMS or SOA. I was just going to do CMS, cause scale...but this is going to be a high performance C2 build, and SOA is the best COG and suspension setup. Can a well setup CMS be just as competetive as SOA? |

And full axle! Beauty of this design is it can be flipped and run left or right offset. So as I have a land rover, gonna keep it scale and run it left drop! Need to mirror my transfer case but thats ok. Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk |
