Chopped and Dropped Class 2 D90

Here is the plans and wheels for my next build. A low COG, stretched WB D90 defender hardbody.

Custom laser cut alloy chassis
WB about 290mm
3d printed flat skid
TRX-4 Sport axles
CMS
SCX10 Trans - Possibly 3d printed front mount
My Custom designed ,3d printed 1.9 mega deepdish 5 spoke beadlocks. With SLW hubs.
Hardbody will get an interior cage.
Maybe an exo cage.

Paint I cant decide between something matte and rat or a race inspired paintjob.

print your own transcase, or tcases. if you can print that wheel, you can do just about anything. ive got 3 tcases in one of my rigs.

Keen to see this unfold. I really like your concept art.

Imo I'd chop the roof and go rat style.

And lastly, is that a losi crawler trans?

It sure is!!

This will be mounted up front, with motor down for low COG.

The space to do that will be provided by my own custom offset front axle, using a SSD centre.

Trans will feed into a custom printed transfer case, with gearing which allows for a 30% overdrive and also compensating for the rear TRX4 portal.

A locking rear portal was chosen to act like a C2 legal dig/cutting brake.

I have considered chopping the roof. It does look cool in my renders. But not sure I'm able to pull it off.

Cool, sounds very performance based. Front motors just make proper scale sense.

Maybe u could design and print some new roof pillars and make the roof height modular somewhat.

Body work has eluded me also. But u seem confident with printing so work with your strengths

Very cool build concept, Subbed!

I love D90's, I've got a 110 but wish it was the 90.

Great looking wheels you made there, is the STL shared anywhere by chance?

I like the look of the KLR A/T's too I wonder if they'll ever do another run, Production seems pretty spotty with them.

Do it! :)

Don't chop the roof, interior cage because exo is kinda over done and can get in the way on the trail. :)

Yeah im not sold on the Exo. Lightweight printed interior cage is the plan.

Going to try DIY hydrodipping for a very unique paint scheme as well.

Oh sweet! Thanks for sharing those.

Man hydrodipping seems a bit like a black art, good luck and I cant wait to see how it turns out.

V1 of the transfer case designed up!

This is the final gear set!! Very confusing![emoji28] But this site is invaluable for visualising ratios and rotations!

https://geargenerator.com/#181.25,17...0,0,0,1,3,-269

Was tricky figuring out the gearing stages which account for the counter rotation of just having one portal axle in the equation

Now just gotta wait for the gears to arrive for first test.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ba362b3b98.jpg

Looking awesome! I’m using the LNC tranny mounted up front too! I designed and printed a mount so it can be mounted up front between an axial chassis. If you want the file let me know I can email it to you!

Also I’m interested in the C2 legal dig. Is it locking or just a open vs closed diff option?

Thanks man!

Yeah would love to see your mount! Can you PM? I want to mount my lnc hard on the right side, but interested to see your work!

Yeah it's just the trx4 rear portal with locking diff. Not a true DIG, but will give some assistance in tighter turning radius and also help when on steep ledges when the rear wants to grab and flip the truck over.

I agree - and those are the best looking 3D-printed wheels I've ever seen, would love to see them replicated in aluminum!

Isn't that what 3D-printing is for, providing a proof-of concept to then be put into mass-production?

"thumbsup"

Haha not sure I have the faculties to progress them from plastic to alloy.
