My Vs4-10 Black build - Mustard Man The black version of the VS4-10 is just what it wanted, the aluminium color looked weird to me. The full name for this kit got even more ridiculous: Vanquish Products VS4-10 Origin Limited Black. It does come with redesigned box art but I'm not bothering you guys with pictures of that. When the kit came in. https://i.imgur.com/kzk7SRb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Tip1xA2.jpg Gathering electronics, I thought about putting in a Hobbywing Axe combo but I've never driven a brushed crawler and I'm not sure if I need to spend 4 times on the ESC + motor than I did now. I've had great success with the WP1080 on other builds and I've been told that when combined with a decent brushed motor it should run a lot smoother at low speed. The area where I live is flat and sandy, I don't think I need brushless power. Meh, I can always swap it out later. https://i.imgur.com/Zgh2who.jpg The VS4-10 mixes metric and imperial bolts, being European I had to order an extra driver. During the build I didn't apply the Green Slime, I'll see if it's needed later on. https://i.imgur.com/zoz9M07.jpg I printed a few fairleads I found on Thingiverse https://i.imgur.com/gUtQO0N.jpg I'm not sure about the stock, plastic kit wheels. I have some others laying around. https://i.imgur.com/x2i6v1e.jpg A driver and some printed accessories. https://i.imgur.com/mUAe4Qh.jpg Here we go, chassis build. The included upgraded servo mount now connects to the front bumper and is aluminium instead of plastic. https://i.imgur.com/f8cx732.jpg Mixed my own mustard paint using Hobbynox water-based airbrush paints. https://i.imgur.com/0vEdWoI.jpg Turns out Finn the driver didn't fit, he bumped his head but could not reach the steering wheel. A Tamiya driver fits like the interior was designed for it, I did put a spacer behind the wheel to get it to reach his hands. I feel like he's missing a moustache. I don't know why. https://i.imgur.com/P0cwrz4.jpg I ordered a Holmes Trailmaster for this truck but I received a 550, a 540 should be in next week. Wheels have not been mounted because I'm waiting for a set of 2-stage foams. It's weird that a kit this expensive doesn't come with a receiver box, there are other plastic parts in it. Anyway, something is in the mail. Also a bunch of parts should be coming in soon to build a servo winch. Stay tuned! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1HdWTsdSSo |
Re: My Vs4-10 Black build - Mustard Man Here's how it's sitting now, no electronics, ugly wheels, waiting for parts. I did smooth out those window trim decals with a blowdryer after uploading. https://i.imgur.com/ulAIZaK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iLIzrc4.jpg |
Re: My Vs4-10 Black build - Mustard Man Classic color choice! Great build, you will love driving it Hang up and Drive |
Re: My Vs4-10 Black build - Mustard Man Nice score! The black version looks awesome, but it scares me to thing what it will look like after a year of use when a lot of the anodizing has been worn off out on the rocks. |

Here’s my old bumper after 6 months of rip rap https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...16f414ba7b.jpg That is why I didn’t buy a black kit, but will build a kit up. The Black looks so great new, I would feel guilty every hit. Hang up and Drive |

Re: My Vs4-10 Black build - Mustard Man I don't drive on the rocks that often, here in the Netherlands we mostly have sand, dirt, clay, mud and more sand. I did start this build to have a very good truck to drive often, my last 3 builds were all hardbodies which I'm too scared to break to drive them hard. You don't get respect without battle scars. |
Re: My Vs4-10 Black build - Mustard Man The dual stage foams arrived. I also received another 550 motor... so I installed a GoolRC 35T I had around. https://i.imgur.com/8AcN0Ri.jpg Time for a test drive https://i.imgur.com/HpICxQC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qfNo0Rs.jpg |
Re: My Vs4-10 Black build - Mustard Man those are the China (ebay) wheels right? how did you mount the stock tires? |

I've bought a similar sets before and have had not problems with them. The small screws holding on the rings are 1/16", a 1.5mm driver will round them easily. I've never had a problem mounting tires to these wheels. |
