Huh. gonna have to grab one of those. I made a simple bender out of some pullies and some scrap metal. it's not pretty but makes some nice bends.

Ugly. but it works. Didn't really use it for this bed though, all the angles were too sharp for a bender. But for sure going to have to go pick one of those up! thanks!

Yeah. Been in the same boat. But work slowed last couple weeks and gave me ample time to get rolling on this build.
Haven't had my 10.2 this put together in months.
Been even longer since I ran the poor thing.
Plan to change this, even if the weather is cold and terrible.

Coming from you, that means a lot! Thank you! Been lurking on builds for awhile and decided my work wasn't up to par.
Realized I'd been rushing myself. From here on out however I plan to just keep taking my time.
Planning isn't something I ever gave much thought into when building.
Young and Dumb maybe I don't really know for sure, but have been working on patience for a while now.

I'm starting to get familiar with my old craftsman 0.30 flux feeder, but plan to save for a tig machine.
Also planning to get a nice torch setup and Learn how to silver solder/braze from a pro such as CodyBoy. (much thank you for that offer man, Really!)

Little more done today. Got the pan sorted. Gotta set the table saw up to rip down some scale lumber for it.

20190127_155438 by Stihlskyhigh

Wanted to include the wells into the bed pan, but made a mistake, Oh no!
And had to lop it off to just the middle. Will end up covering the wells up somehow down the road.

20190127_183109 by Stihlskyhigh

Approach angles are gonna be sweeet.

20190127_183049 by Stihlskyhigh

Now to move on to the interior cage. Will be my first interior cage too. Lookin' forward to that.

20190127_183015 by Stihlskyhigh

Not a ton of progress. But it's some. Can't wait to get it out and beat on it a bit.

Take 'er easy, Keep it scale, and Have Fun!

Thank you bud! I'm rather happy with how it's turning out. Not too bad for just free handing it. Had an idea of what I wanted in my mind, and just went for it.

Getting a parts list of things I need together. Also trying to decide on a paint colors and possibly a scheme of some kind.
May be a few days before any real progress happens, but will be tinkering with it while I wait for parts.

Take it easy! Keep 'er Scale, and Have Fun!

Just had a good read though your build. Looks great. I really like the look of the bed, and the details you've added. Looking forward to seeing it all done

Thank you kindly bud! I appreciate the comment. I keep lookin' at it, but awaiting some funds from work before I can continue. Also been tinkering with a side project. Haven't decided if I want to scrap it and start over yet, so more on that later.

Stay tuned. Lots more to come on this build for sure!

Small update. Over the weekend I didn't have a lot of time to put into this build.

Tossed back on my 4.3 Tsl's. Can't believe I originally got this set of tires back in 2011.
*please ignore the 3 lug hubs. They are the most narrow set of hubs I have,
I'm assuming they are for some kind of brake rotor setup or something,
only 3 slots are tapped, the rest are milled out entirely.
They're just being used for mock up purposes.

20190204_081327 by Stihlskyhigh

Got a pair of touring car shocks to fit in there, and still allow for full flex from the leaves.
Not the most scale setup sure, but oh well.
Want this to perform as best as I can make it with what I have.
Currently don't have the funds to make any kind of parts order.
Also playing around with where I want to run traction bars,
Have an unsleeved upper link in there as an anti wrap bar mockup.

20190204_081614 by Stihlskyhigh

Shocks are bolted on at a pretty steep angle.
But they still do a wonderful job as absorbers.
Hopefully gonna get every mile I can out of these gmade leafs.

20190204_081638 by Stihlskyhigh

Still flex's like a champ, actually getting a little too much for my liking out of the front.
May end up either limiting the cheapy 10.2 kit shocks,
or maybe a pair of limiting straps.

20190204_081545 by Stihlskyhigh

That's what I go so far. For sure more to come once I get a day off.

Thanks for lookin'/reading, Take it easy and Have fun!

Small update, Got my Tiny tires mounted up (huge thanks CodyBoy! Still trying to figure out where I wanna stick one of your Slaps! )
Hopefully can still get into class one with this rig,
may need to switch out for some really narrow offset wheels or something to get half the tire under the fenders

Also switched up the rear bumper a bit. Last one I made out of flat bar was a bit heavy, and I wasn't really keen on either. So I cut it off and went another route.

Need your help! Light bar or no light bar in the front bumper?

Apologies for the grainy photos, Will try for better quality pics next time.

I think it looks better without that light bar, it covers up to much of the grill. A 2'' would look better. I may have something that may fit the bill.

Love the tires on there, really meets you c1 criteria.

Yeah they do! Also mounted up the fun country's, you Weren't wrong, They do look great on there.

And I think your right, built the bumper with the intention of using that
lightbar but just never quite sold myself on it enough to fab mounts into
the bumper. I do really like the bruiser feel I get from it, and a light bar may
ruin that.

A 2" may just keep the look. Also thought about some of those baja design light pods, Or a KC style, but seemed to have lost all my smaller round axial
light buckets.

Oh well. Back to getting some things done on it

Another update to come!

Thanks bud! Leafs are from a sawback, as are the top hat plates and ubolts,
I got the perches from a local fellow RC nut who's also a machinist. He made
A set for his blazer 10.2. Said he just whipped 'em out on a bridgeport vertical mill.

I'll let ya know If I need some buckets bud!

Little bit more done before I got too cold out in the shop. I think I need a
bigger heater..

Ernie, you weren't wrong. These tires do look Great on this rig!

Made it tilt again. Not the prettiest, but it won't be seen much, so oh well.
Fabbed up some l shaped brackets that bolt to the frame, and the bed now bolts to the brackets, which now allow it to tilt all the way up.

Apologies, my phone doesn't like to focus.

20190216_185340 by Stihlskyhigh

I'll be replacing all hardware on final assembly, Just don't wanna mess any
of my good hardware up.

20190216_185526 by Stihlskyhigh

New tail light location. Still working on the reverse light and turn signal
locations.

I'm Diggin' the stance of this rig. Although I'll have to switch around hubs if I compete.

Another small update. Got the wood panel in the bed figured out.

Also spent some time with a bench vise and leveled things some.

Still need to address the front suspension to get it to sit just a hair lower.

But it's coming along.

Before I retweaked it in a bench vise, you can see the rear dive down away
from the cab

20190214_193335 by Stihlskyhigh

after a bit of retweaking.

20190223_101103 by Stihlskyhigh

Curious on everyone's thoughts. Thinkin' I may cut into this one
and lower the rear wheel arches down a bit to match up more with the
front. Not sure I like how much taller the wheel arches are on the bed.

Thanks for lookin' . Take 'er easy!
