Not much of an update, but I rebuilt the whole truck with the aluminum rod ends and i'm happy with the amount of travel I get out of these now. It looks great, now the front had more travel than the rear so I might have to change to a 110 mm shock. I haven't decided if I really want to yet tho. I've also been working on the geometry of everything revising it to work correctly and finalizing all the parts to get ready to print when my brother comes back from vacation. A working prototype Is going to be here before I know it.

OK so I was having some fun and thought it would be cool to have a set of bearings in the front spindle where the upper rod end attached to the spindle so that it could spin freely and allow the full throw of the steering yet have minimal slop. I think ill try it out and see how it does.

Built a front bumper tonight, it ties in nicely with the sub frame and skid plate. Also nice and simple following the body line of the Durango.

I'm enjoying following your design process on this one. I'm also impressed by how quickly your model is progressing. The skid plates look great.

Keep the good content coming.

I went through and "fixed" everything as to not imply I'm trying to sell this. Hope this makes everyone happy and they can enjoy the thread for what it was originally intended, a build thread.

I've always been fascinated by build threads reading through each page by page watching the progress, I have always wanted to have one myself. I hope I'm doing a good job in conveying what's going on so it's not confusing everyone.

Thank you! It does seem quick I guess but I basically get home from work and start on this thing. So, its hours of work on my end!

Keep it up. Looking like you are almost ready to print.

Getting pretty close! Just waiting on my brother to get back from vacation! In the mean time i've been going through and revising everything making it look pretty and what not. I don't know if you guys will be able to spot the differences, but I built some actual shocks up...

What are you planning for the inboard pivot points? Hinge pins? Shoulder bolts? Same question for the lower ball joint?

Thank you! I've always wanted to turn 3D design into a technical art so this really makes me feel good. All the parts will be 3D printed in a durable SLS nylon.

currently, I'm using the axial shoulder screws that were originally used for the spindles on the straight axle everwhere I can, top arms, lower arms, and steering rack. I'm not too sure how well they will work or how strong they will be so that might change. the rest is just a metal rod end with steel pivot ball.

I can tell you have a big number of hours into this model. Clearly you have some available time after work though. If you were only putting in a couple hours a week on this, it would be nowhere near this far along.

I'm really motivated to work on it so most days I spend from 6pm-midnight on the computer. It's pretty therapeutic for me though, recently I'd developed an anxiety I couldn't understand. This project has helped a ton.

I think this hobby is great for treating anxiety. Glad to hear it helps you too.

And this is still looking killer man!

Well I went through and finalized all the parts the best I could, allowing room for everything to fit together with a 0.02" tolerance. Even though it looked like a lot of parts when I got rid of all the OTS parts there's only 18 parts total to make this kit. Not bad actually. Its hard to tell but here are a couple screen shots of just the parts that will be 3D printed minus the skid plates.

Been through the whole thread. Awesome work! I'd love to learn how to do this kind of work someday.

Unfortunately the mainstream software packages are incredibly expensive.

There are some free ones out there, not that powerful but decent to try to do 3D modeling.
