Default Ultra 4 KOH TJ Buggy

I started building this chassis a few years ago, shortly after I got burnt out with everything r/c, sold a bunch of stuff, and put the rest in 'storage'. Well, I've got the itch again, and my big motivation for this is, I want to finish it so I can order a tf2 and 4runner body and build that, it also performs really well so I'm excited to get it on the rocks. Diving into it

Some specs:

-Handbuilt chassis
-AX10 Trans to tcase
-Rc4wd Black Widow front axle
-SSD Diamond rear stripped raw
-MIP shafts
-China ebay shocks with Rc4wd King piggy backs
-China ebay wheels wrapped with R35 Krawler t/a
-China tcase
-Pro4 3300kv/MMP/5955tg

Right now you'll see a 2 speed tcase in there, I've got a single speed on the way. The 2 speed has a lot of 'roll slop' that I don't like and it will be easier to build the interior around a single speed.

I'm kinda digging this TJ front clip, we'll see.

An FJ40 clip would be a good one, too.

Thank you, that trans mount took some thinking and time to get just right. I wanted to get it as low as possible with out interfering with suspension and drive line clearances. I agree, the rc4wd heim joints look killer on steering links. Plastic ones kill the scale vibe and every other aluminum version i've tried fall apart or have tons of slop in them. The rc4wd's do have a tad bit of slop, but it's acceptable for how good they look.

Thanks guys, I have managed to make some progress over the week. Slowly but surely it's coming along. These final stages are test of patience. I'll likely have more time into detail work than building the chassis.

Progress! I decided to stick with the TJ front clip. I trimmed it up a bit, cut out the factory 'headlights', turned down some axial light buckets, and now have headlights.

After looking at these pics, I'm unsure about my angled cut on the rear panel. To be continued....

I decided to add a fuel filler, you can also see the radiator housing I built:

Whiddled some styrene and made a fuel tank with the help of some old pro line scale bits I had lying around:

This is how I get the body panels to form a curve:

Until next time

Wow! You have GOT to finish this rig. I'm loving everything about it. It just already has a real 1:1 feel about it.
