Small update, At Proline by the fire I started to hear a crunchiness in the tranny. It was only present when I tipped the nose down, if I tilted the nose up it went away. I unhooked the driveshafts to narrow down if it was in the axle or tranny, it was in the tranny.

So after tearing down the tranny (which is the SCX10.2 kit version) I found nothing out of the ordinary. I had a feeling something was shifting around and causing this so I ordered up the Vanquish top shaft (These were out of stock when I built this). Swapped it in and then I found my pinion set screw was hitting the spur gear which I cant say for sure was the original issue but the stock top shaft does have a ton of play that allow the spur gear to move in and out making aligning it impossible (its a moving target). Anyway with the VP top shaft installed the spur gear now only moves in and out a tiny tiny bit and I was able to get the pinion aligned again and the crunchiness is gone

My 3D printed panhard finally gave way (it was carbon fiber PETG), it held up for a few dozen runs. It was really only a prototype that I didn't bother redesigning. It was only 3.5mm thick at the break.

I'm gonna beef it up and give it another shot before go all out and fab up a metal panhard mount.

I added some more heft to it as well as a few spots I can a bolt and run a set screw through. This way in theory its reinforced a bit. There's a 16mm screw that runs up from the bottom at an angle and a 30mm set screw that continues upwards. With this setup the two fasteners bridge between the mount point (for the panhard bar) and the chassis rail.
I ran it a bit a saw only a tiny bit of deflection.

I still love this thing, the turning radius is just beautiful.

Looks great! Have you ever tried printing with ABS?

PETG has been pretty durable for the most part so long as I design with that in mind so I've been sticking with it.

I haven't printed ABS or Nylon yet, I would need to come up with some venting or an enclosure to keep the printer at a good temp. ABS and Nylon I believe are some of the nastier materials you can print with. Currently my printer is setup inside my house, but I could potentially move it out to my garage If I can overcome temps and the high humidity. I think there are some food dehydrator setups that dry your filament as you print.

I have been meaning to try out Shapeways to have them print out some nice SLS stuff, just haven got around to it.

Nice bug build! Really cool 3d printing work! I too am looking at a printed panhard solution. Just wondering on strength.

I have also found this alloy solution from Asiatees. https://asiatees.com/display?Miscell...=recommend-int

For $5.70 it seems like a great solution

That panhard mount might be easy to adapt to something.

Do they use a good grade of aluminum? I haven't used any of their parts.

No idea. Never used anything from this company. Even cheap alloy would be stiffer than good plastic

I'm glad it helped!

Are you going to have a build thread? I'd be interested to see it

I love these Scorcher builds. I have a body, but not the technical know how yet to build one. One day as my electronic/mechanical skills get better. Just awesome.
