Today lots of time was spent working on project D-Rat, but visually not much to show for as a lot of what I did was fine tuning. A chicane system was added to the body to prevent crap from entering the cab. The firewall was trimmed to its final shape and closed off. The saw lines of the body were cleaned up and refined. And the grill portion was opened up because the engine will obviously need more air flow since the fenders were removed! D |

| Re: Defender D90 Rat Rod Thank you This evening I started the design and fabrication of the front bumper/stinger/winch mounting plate on project D-Rat. I’m kind of winging this one as I am uncertain of what style of bumper I want. So far, I made a 2 level base plate, the main beams and I started on the stinger. Also, I cut out a steel mesh to use in the grill. D |

| Re: Defender D90 Rat Rod Quote:
Consistent progress on project D-Rat, the front bumper is taking a life of its own... I added a cross member and front corner pieces to support the hood. I then bent the fender pieces in a compound angle to blend with the rock sliders. I debated welding the front bumper/fender frame to the rock sliders, but if I did it would’ve rendered installation and removal almost impossible. Therefore, I added to each side of the fender frame a piece that goes back to the truck frame, to which a welded plate permits the fender frames to be bolted to the trucks frame to add rigidity to the overall design. I extended the hood support frame to cover the complete perimeter of the hood and attached it back to the fender frame to box everything in. In progress are the final pieces which will form the inner members of the fender frame. D | |
