| Ford Superduty Brush Truck
I've decided to kick off another build. This truck I'm building for my son. It'll be based off his love for fire trucks and my appreciation of those who fight wild fires. Starting with a little inspiration from my son's Hot Wheels I did some more research, and I'm shooting for something a looks similar to this using the Proline Superduty and Utility bed I've been collecting some parts to get this build going. Here I've picked up the new Axial Raw Builders Kit along with some new tools and a fire extinguisher scale accessory from my local hobby shop. And we're off! Even though my son is only 3 years old, he's really excited and has been a pretty good helper so far. I'll continue to update this thread as we build. A little update. We've completed the axles and transmission. I also found some left over electronics to put in this truck to get it going. I also picked up the Superduty body, utility bed, headache rack, and emergency light kit. I can really see the vision now! |

Thanks for the comments! It's been fun to show him how to put things together. I'm glad Axial came out with this builders kit. I was able to use up a lot of stuff I had laying around in boxes (attempting to reduce the clutter around here). Just need a set of tires. I'm thinking about getting the RC4wd Duratracs in the 3.85" tall size. I think that would create a more scale appearance. Question for the mods: Could someone please fix the typo in the thread title? I'm not able to |

May 14th Update The frame is put together and I've started setting some of the electronics in place. This one will be running a Tekin FXR with a Pro 40t motor and a Spektrum radio. Wheels and tires should show up tomorrow! |

May 16th Update The wheels and tires arrived. I went with the RC4WD Goodyear Duratrac tires 1.9 x 3.80 tall and the Gmade SR05 wheels in painted silver. I might take a crack at painting the tire letters white. They are a very sticky compound. Should grip really well! I think they are pretty close to what you would see on an XL Superduty with steel wheels Last edited by FordSpeed; 05-16-2019 at 10:21 PM. |

After a few more nights of work, we have a chassis on it's own feet. The wheel and tire combo turned out great. I was able to test the electronics. Everything works and no funny noises from the transmission, so I must have done something right. Just need a servo cable extension and a different servo horn. Sits too close to the chassis with this particular servo to get full swing. On to the body work! |

I keep checking in on this one. The truck is looking really good with those steel wheels, nothing like a government work vehicle!

Nice work so far. Your wheel and tire choice make sense. A brush truck is not going to have blinged out beadlocks on it!
