Default Hummer H1 HG P408

Finally arrived. I haven't bought a truck in a while, but this one I couldn't pass up. All the obligatory box opening shots.

I really like the carry case they include in the box. it will definitely come in handy.

And finally the truck:

This truck is seriously heavy! I wasn't expecting there to be so much metal. I am blown away at the level of detail in this truck.

Obviously the frame rails are metal, but all the arms, diffs, portals, trans, exhaust. All metal.

The front and rear diffs are open and lock with a pin. Like the Tamiya Hi Lift did. The truck weighs close to 12 pounds with a battery. The shocks have threaded bodies. The suspension is soft, yet very supportive of the weight of this beast.

Party mode!

The body has metal in it as well. Door hinges, snorkel, hood hinges. The winshield frame and B pillar are also metal. And it extends into the body for support for the body's mid mounting point.

The details are spectacular. A very well thought out truck.

Nice! I was considering picking up one of these too since I liked the quality of the P802. I know these are more model/trail oriented, but I wish someone would make a more crawler oriented Hummer.

Is there any reduction in the portals or is it 1:1?

1.4:1 reduction in the portal boxes. More details like the inboard brakes.

So it was time to make some changes.

I quickly realized the 4.75 MT/Rs I had picked up a month ago were just not going to fit on the truck. Bummer.

I think I'll order the 4.19 versions.

Onto the electronics. Out with the new, In with the old.

Just some trustworthy bits I've had for many years. Mamba Max pro, bec, cheap brushless motor. Motor is a placeholder until my other one gets here.

And since I had it out. A peek inside the transmission.

A few beauties from today:

Trashed the stock servo in no time. Lol. An old CS170 on deck to go in.

I ended up throwing on some old super soft Rock Beasts stuff with standard 4.75 foams. As you can see the Rock Beasts are just too soft, but grip with fault.

Must be Big Bro because they’re working for me.

This thing is pretty impressive looking.
The more I see if these the more I want one.

Awesome humvee! Is it just me though but it looks like the steering outer knuckle wants to be mounted between the arm just above where is is at the moment?

It looks that way, but it has to be on the same plane as the lower a-arm so the steering geometry is not affected throughout travel.

I think this will be the wheel and tire combo for awhile. Traded the MT/Rs to another member on the board last week for some BFGs. Also wasn't a huge fan of the stock plastic wheels so I swapped them for a set of RC4WD Humvee wheels. I bought 4 single wheels from 3 different places and it ended up being cheaper than buying a set.

I just ordered mine in dark green with the lights and sound kit and I cant wait to get it. I plan to lock the diffs and set the headlights and turn signals to be always on. I seen someone on YouTube do it and it looked good. I am going to install a 6ch reciever so I can use my trusty DX5 and I will be shopping for a nice brushless system also.

I was going to get the RC4WD humvee wheels as well. Any fitment problems with the wheels?
