Nice mount! Which 3D modeling software are you using?

I use Fusion360. Took a little bit to learn but it definitely is great for mocking up parts. I used sketchup for a bit but it just didn't have enough tools to do stuff efficiently.

I will definitely be building a custom T-case mount when it comes in and most likely all the parts for my blackfoot body.

Is your project up and running yet? Scale Mountain is calling for a test run, let's go!:)

Got some more work done!
3D printed an engine to cover the motor. Not sure what kind of V8 it is but It was free and it’s got a ton if detail.
I also printed a new cms mount to move the servo a tad bit lower and further back so I can get the winch bumper as close to the body as possible.
I converted the axial transmission into a temporary transfer case.
I finally started fitting the Blackfoot/f150/ranger body. Most likely gonna open the fenders a bit, do a half cage tire rack and an interior.

Re: 1.9 Wild Worm Scaler

Had the day off today so I got to mess around designing more parts. It’s funny how you go to solve one problem only to create more.

So it started with boat sides to eliminate the side skids. Once I got those figured out, the fenders I printed didn’t fit. So I had to go back and modify them.
After getting the fenders situated I realized I wouldn’t be able to use the OEM receiver box. So noot having a Traxxas one on hand and it being too late to run to the hobby shop. I decided to design the lower part that will take the original cover.

I found my spoil of black nylon so as long as the printer cooperates they should come out nice. [emoji1693]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d206d35072.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1ff96d37e7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cc64dc65e8.jpg

Thanks! I’m actually about to fly out to PHX for work and I’ll be taking the crawler with me. Hopefully she’ll test alright.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...152922d748.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...77084b23ee.jpg

And here’s a pick of the latest boat sides. I added the body mounting holes and printed at a lower resolution so they’d have built in “sliding grooves”. (And I didn’t want to wait around for 8 hrs for the hi res print haha!)

That looks Bad Ass! Good Job so far Ronin! Man, wish I was going to Phoenix with my Crawlers. Bet they have some great natural rock formations for crawling. Post some pics if you can!

I’m in PHX! There’s a lot of rocks to crawl. Here are some pics just before I broke my steering link...[emoji29]

Look at those Rocks! Nice.

Re: 1.9 Wild Worm Scaler

Crawling in PHX really did a number on my truck. I decided I’m going to need all new links because I broke or bent most. Since I’ll be making new links I’m going to extend the wheel base out from 11 to 12 inches. Or closer to what most trucks have. I noticed I kept getting pinched between rocks with the short base.

Oh and while I was gone my transfer case came in and it looks sweet! I’ll probably drawing up a skid for it here soon

Sounds like you had one hell of a time in Phoenix:lmao:
Get that sucker running again so we can go to Scale Mountain!

Re: 1.9 Wild Worm Scaler

Little Big update!

Had a comp today so I needed to get it running and ready to go. I was able to design and print the transfer case mount. Will need to work on it a bit as I think the input shift is a little to high. I also fabbed up a makeshift bed so I can put my scale stuff on.
During the comp I over heated the motor so much it melted off the brush holding bracket. (I guess that’s what happens when you run a 19 turn with a 28 tooth pinion lol!) But I was able to change the pinion and put the motor back together and finish the last two courses. Long story short after all the mess I came in 3rd overall out of 20 people!

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d740bfd797.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...93797d8966.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a9058b2716.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8835b2b356.jpg

Did find some stuff I didn’t like. Next changes will likely be shorter shocks, thicker oil, and a pan hard for the front to reduce the side to side play.

Congrats on your 3rd place finish, good thing you had a buddy at the comp to help you out with a spare pinion:mrgreen:
Truck looks great, you did well at the comp.

Rig is looking pretty good. Like the flat bed.

Thanks! I threw it together last minute so I could get some scale points. Probably going to go to a drop bed of some sort. Anyone have experience with mounting the top of their rear shocks more inwards?thinking I can maybe lower the height of the shock to get more clearance for a bed.

Mehhh I think I’ll keep it as an offering to keep me from competing in class 3!

LOOOOOLLLLL, if you tried Class 3, you probably wouldn't finish so stick to your class, and I want my pinion back.....:lmao:

Sweet rig man! (Congrats on the podium placement too!) I have never gotten too interested in 3D printing for parts just because I have been skeptical about the overall strength of the parts, but it looks like they're holding up well for ya.

As for lowering the bed, maybe look into a cantilever setup. I ran the Yeah Racing x Dinky RC cantilever on my scx10 for a while but the shocks that they use are 1/16 revo/summit shocks. They are just too small to make it handle well IMHO. I saw a company advertising a rear cantilever suspension system that had more 'normal' sized shocks that should provide better suspension handling. I want to say that is was Boomracing if I recall.

But yeah! Check it out and see what you think.

Yeah they hold up pretty well actually. I haven’t used them for anything super heavy duty yet bu all else seems to work well. I saw the cantilever suspension and it might be worth messing with in the future.
