Default Another Injora Chassis Build

Inspired by mewalsh100-New Project for my Bro build, I decided to build a crawler for one of my best friends and Brother from another mother. Using an Injora chassis I picked up on Ebay, I wanted to do a U.S. Marine Corps theme since he's a Marine Veteran. Turned out better than I thought it would. Total time to complete the build was 2 weeks, here are a few pics. Comments and advice are always welcome.

Found Camp Lejeune toxic water survivor decals on Ebay, he was at Camp Lejeune and thought that was hilarious.

Turned out decent, my boy was ecstatic when I gave it to him two days ago.

Not too shabby, can't wait 'till we go to the crawler course and hit the rocks!

Nice looking build!

I have always been a fan of the SR5 body. I like that shade of green. What color is it?

The paint and scale goods turned out awesome mv! Lovin it! The Duratrax Deepwoods also look perfect on this build. I got my first set of these a few weeks ago and have been running them on the Barrage/Axial hybrid. I was a bit skeptical, but I have to say that they hook up really well pretty much everywhere. Awesome job bud!

Thank you mewalsh, always appreciate your feedback!
Can't go wrong with the Deep Woods, especially for the price. Did so well at the comps with them on, I wound up switching all five of my crawlers to Deep Woods!

I'm really anxious to see how well the Injora chassis performs at a comp. If it holds up to the abuse on the rocks, I'll probably get another one.

By the way mewalsh, in case you didn't notice, I found an alternative to the stiff springs on the stock shocks. Removed the outer springs, opened up the shock body and installed RC4WD 90mm internal springs. Also added a small amount of 30wt. shock oil. Suspension is a lot smoother, real test will be on the rocks or a trail. Will keep you posted

I was wondering what you ended up doing. That’s a great work around. I made a mental note of that for when I end up using those shocks on a future build!

Looking forward to hearing how this does in a comp. I've been beating on my chassis for a months now and it seems to be holding up, granted it's mostly trail riding rather than hardcore rocks. I'm running the chinese KLR tyres, cantilevers shocks at the rear with a Range Rover hard bodyon top.

Nice looking truck! Do you have any issues getting that paint to stick to Lexan?

Thanks for the compliment Jato! I used fine grit sandpaper to rough it up a little, helps the paint to stick. I then sprayed a coat of Krylon black lacquer over the Tamiya paint. It usually holds up well, keeps it from chipping. I also like the way it slightly darkened up the olive drab, giving it a nice shade of green.

You are welcome.

Thank you for the info on the paint.

Absolutely fantastic transformation with that SR5. Big Tacoma fan here. Also agree on the tires/ wheels/ paint choice... perfect. Great job!
