what size rod does everyone use for roll cage and what material?

You could also Che k out commercial builders... Eg... Cbe rc fab uses 12g steel for some of his chassis plates.

Most common size is 3/16" diameter. I use solid cold rolled rod, chromoly tube or 304 stainless tube and rod. Just depends on application for me and I also TIG weld my stuff. All three of those can also be brazed and there are some that use 3/16" and 1/4" brake like for cage work.
