Oh, and thanks for that info on the alum sheet. 060 and 080 are typically easy to find. I'm new to cars and I'm learning a lot from this thread...........

OK, lets try those pics again.

Axles done and painted. Skids on both to help with some rock rash. Also went parts bin diving and found a steering link from a Trail Finder 2, i think.

Next is the dash. I wasn't happy with it so its getting changed a bit. I sanded down the raised up glove box to make a different one, made a cover plate for the driveshaft to transfer case that i'm not using, and made a larger gauge bezel for some stickers i found. The stickers did not fit in the stock location.

I finally decided to chop off that ugly front bumper. Bye!

I did start mocking up a tube bumper to replace the stock one but that will be on hold for a bit. My buddy was letting me use his tig but due to the virus going around he is not excepting visitors at the moment. So, plan B it is. I've had this for ages and never quite found a build for it. I think its from a Trail Finder 1. Just have to figure out a bracket for it to mount to the chassis.

More soon.

I'm really intrigued with this build. What are the shock lengths that you are using?

I'm wondering if a RC4WD R4 os SSD tranny would work in this chassis................

The shocks i'm using are the Traxxas big bore off of a 2wd slash fronts. I have the part number saved somewhere. I'll look around. I'm not sure about those trans, I do not have any. I'm sure with some creativity you could get them to fit.

I’ve been cross brand parts diving this guy for years. Usually the best deals around.

Looks like 3.5”+/- (89-90mm).

Update time. I figured out the bracket for the new front bumper. Just a simple piece of angle aluminum. Took some time since all i have is hand tools. It came out nice pretty though.

Bolted to the chassis.

Bumper on.

Body on.

A servo fits in the stock location with no issues.

I think it looks good for being the backup, plan B option.

While i was working on the bumper i started to really dislike the ugly machining marks, plus they were kind of deep. I thought since i'm painting it a gun metal color i didn't want the metal flakes in the paint settling in the machine marks. So i hand filed them out, what a pain.

I decided to keep the corners with the machine marks. I thought it kind of looks like a scale "welded corner". We'll see what it looks like with some primer on. What do you guys think, keep or smooth them out?

Parts are almost ready for some paint!! More soon.

That servo Mount is sexy. I’m on the fence with the bumper having those marks. Primer well tell the tale.

I'm all in with the "weld" marks. Ads to the scale

Thanks, went to the manual and it crosses over to 100mm front and 115mm rears.

More off the checklist! I painted the front bumper and the "weld marks" really aren't that visible unless you know they are there. So they will stay.

Some finished interior parts. A recap of before and after.

No idea what these stickers came off of. I know its not a classic looking interior but it works for me.

The chassis is painted in gun metal color also. I wish i took some pics outside to show the cool color because these came out really dark. Oh well. The diamond plate floor is painted in aluminum and looks great!

And the re-assembly process has started.

Bouncing around a bit, the rear tire/battery cover is also finished. I'm not crazy about the beadlock ring choice i made. That might change later.

Well that's it for now, back to more assembly and some pics.

More stuff. A last minute change to the front bumper. I made a bracket to attach an led light bar to the bumper. I felt like it needed something. Simple to remove if i don't like it.

The finished product. A winch is tucked nicely below.

Ok, hopefully no more getting side tracked.

The bumper mounted led light bar is a cool idea, but I think the it looks more scale and "cooler" with out it. Having said that, your fab work is top notch. Thank you for sharing.

Looking great! The gold console reminds me of my Dad's 71 Bronco color. I should have bought that from him. A friends stepson bought it and totaled it within a month.

Anyway, how would 2.2 wheels and tires look on this? Waiting for my body and frame to arrive on the C-19 boat from Asia so I cant judge the scale yet..........

Final assembly has started. I started with the interior and then did the wiring. The Traxxas system is just temporary for now.

Trying to keep the wires clean and organized.

Sooooo many tiny screws! I decided to put outer rings on the inside also.

Next is to get the axles bolted on and get the body painted. It needs a small amount of body work since it fiberglass, but not much. More soon.
