Hello! This is my first time with a RC for many years and I chose crawling because it's simply awsome! I've been watching scale rigs for years and finally I had cash for my all time favorite truck.. The BJ/FJ 40! I bought the RTR version just because I wanted to go crawling as soon as possible ![]() I started this thread since it will be a kind of customization thread for this crawler. List of future customizations: -Front & rear bumpers -Leafsprings & shocks -Tires/rims -Roof rack -Spare wheel rack -Lights -Interior And some more which I probably forgot. And here's the beauty itself ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If my english is not perfect it's because I'm finnish ![]() |

Thanks! ![]() Anyways, I thought about building a complete new front bumper but then I remembered a HJ60 cruiser I saw once had this kind of bumper. Found an old paint roller which suited perfectly for this project ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still a bit of bending to get it straight and sanding, as you see I had to put a piece of wood under one end to get it straight. Not so easy though when it's a quite thick steel bar. |

Today I got new tires for the cruiser but they were a BIT bigger than I thought they would be.. First of all they are much wider than the originals so it took literally HOURS to even get the small beadlocks to hold the beads in place! I will have to get smaller ones later on or add spacers to both axles to get the body lifted up a bit. ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, and I made a couple of mudflaps yesterday also ![]() ![]() Let me hear your opinions, lift or smaller tires? ![]() |

Made a roof rack prototype from scrapmetal to see how it would look like, nothing nice and ugly welds but I will build a better one later. Works on the trail for now, front grill also painted white a while ago. ![]() ![]() |
