I'm wondering this as well. I have some scx axles to put in my Capra but I don't know how it will be since the stock trans has a higher gear ratio than the scx trans.

Nah I got a sparetime hobby skid plate on the way to run an axial 3 gear transmission if you run the stock capra transmission it won't crawl properly

Right, mine does too, with the stock capra axles. But, I went ahead and put a 3-gear in my AR44 capra. When using AR44 or similar axles that have a higher gear ratio it would be better to use the SCX10/10.2 3-gear trans. The capra trans is geared much higher to compensate for the combined lower ratio of the ring/pinion and portals. One probably could get away with Ar44/capra trans, but I imagine the slow speed control wouldn't be very good. Then again I may be wrong, it has happened once before...

"I run the stock Capra transmission and mine crawls just fine, volt up and gear down"

Yes, because you're running the Capra Portal Axles with it - the OE configuration. (BTW - you need to rescale your pics - they're showing up huge)

The ratio in AR44's or similar is completely different and does not have nearly the reduction the portals provide. The OE Capra trans is geared much "taller" to accommodate the Portal reduction. Additionally, without hacking and making clearance on the Capra trans, 11T pinion is as low as you can go. This won't get you there with AR44's / similar.

Building my SSD Pro44 based straight axle Capra at the moment. After doing the math on ratios, I went 3 gear trans, 32P 57T spur, 10T pinion, OD in the front axle. I'll be running a tried and true combo of Hobbywing1080 with a Holmes Hobbies 13T Crawlmaster. Did some bench testing last night and it looks good. From neutral point at the Tx to adding just one click of throttle trim, the motor turns and just allows it to creep. Add a handful and there's giddy up to spare. Need to do more testing, but so far I'm pleased. I may go 11T on the pinion for a bit more up top since there seems to be creep to spare down low. Running 100C, 1500mah 3S.
