Default Fricker08’s Procrawler Flatgekko

Here we are RCC!
Been waiting on this chassis for almost 2 months and boy was it worth the wait...
everything was perfectly packed and bagged with all the hardware. Even included a hand written note and some stickers.
Rails come in around 3.6oz and the assembled chassis about 6.5oz
Got the chassis assembled, going to start on the SSD Pro44’s next. It’s got a Capra trans skid but I changed my route, so I’ll be running a TGH 2.low and I’m likely going to be sending all this off when I get my Gmade RSD shocks to InTheWorks Rc for some custom links.

Just a warning, it’s going to be bit of a slow build. We’re getting a ton of rain up here in the PNW so it’s giving me time to build it. That and I need to free up some funds, so I’ll likely be selling my GMRC chassis.
SSD Pro44’s went together flawlessly, everything is super straight forward and very nice fit n finish. Even a few extra screws n what not.

Some more pics, because why not.
I’m nervous about sending all this off after waiting so long for it. So after looking at pics, I think this chassis is close enough to the gspeed v3 I’ll order those links and pray they work. Decided to go with intheworks titanium.

That is a damn good start!

I have a set of the intheworks links for G-Speed TGH v3, if you want, I can take some measurements for you. pm me if so.

Cheers,
Gable

It's great to see that you were finally able to get your chassis. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this build.

Thanks man, it’s going to be pretty much functionality only. Little bit of brass thinking tgh 2.low servo winch and I’ll be throwing my castle micro x and 2850 slate in it

Well I’m sure some of you are wondering what happened with this project.. it’s been sitting on the shelf and I sold the axles to fund some other projects. I’ve tried to sell it, but I decided I’m going to build it.
I’ve got a transmission coming and I’ll be robbing the axles n suspension from my 10.3 for a while. I’ll be running the chassis mounted servo unless someone knows of a servo mount for the ar45 axles I’m not aware of. Pics of the build will be coming this week.

Pumped the brakes on the 6x6 for a night. So I decided to start another project. Stripped the drivetrain out of the 10.3 and mounted the axles/suspension in the flatgekko.
Pretty straight up swap, just need to make some adjustments and get softer springs. Running the stock cheesy panhard for now until I can come up with something better. I’ll be ordering the gspeed support to take some stress off the housing. Have a couple bodies laying around I’m going to play with and another in the mail along with the Capra transmission.

Little update, Capra trans showed up today, thanks Edmundo at CI. Got it mounted but either way it spun there was a clearance issue with links and drive lines. So I dug in my junk and found a skid I’d ordered way back and never used. So with some trimming it moved the transmission towards center, no more clearance issues and can run the motor facing forward. All that’s left is to mount the body, fab up a battery tray, then decide which electronics I’ll be putting in and get those mounted.

That’s turning out good. I was curious about the Capra trans choice, but since you’re using portals you should have plenty of gearing right? Are you planning on running the dig function ?

It’s taken some work but should be a fun rig in the end.
Yea the 10.3 and Capra axles share the same gearing. I’ll be running like an 11t pinion or smaller if I can. I’ll also be adding the tgh wild overdrive shortly. I know the gearing is tall in this trans but it was the easiest option for me right now. I’ll leave the dig locked out, I’d have to get creative on mounting a servo and running a linkage. But with the 36% od you really don’t need it in my experience

Well here’s the finished product for now, besides actually mounting the body. Decided to throw the castle 2850kv in this thing with the micro x. Savox 1210sg and castle bec 2.0 and I’ll be running on 3s. All that’s left is a bumper and some dual stage foams. This thing is all purpose not much else, and I tried to keep all the weight forward with no extras

Looks sick man. How do the 10.3 springs feel on it?

Thanks man, once I added the weight of a trans and electronics, unloaded the springs and tried some different settings they actually feel pretty good. I’m going to run it then decide if I want to go softer. I don’t like how far the steering link sticks out. But I don’t think there’s much I can do about that

Performed the pen spring mod, got the body mounted and I’m extremely happy with how it looks. I can’t wait to get this thing out on the rocks, unfortunately the weather doesn’t look permitting for a while. I’ve got some v3 sliders and dual stage foams coming.
