Thanks, I really like the CF bed also and it was super easy to make.

I was going to put the receiver on top of the steering servo but that was going to make a mess of all the wiring. I just have it mounted with a spacer and one screw to the VFD trans spacer. keep it simple stupid

Currently the truck weighs 5lb 7oz or 2470 grams. Missing a front body mount, paint and possibly a servo winch. Will probably end up right at 6lbs.

The shocks look great but the springs are probably too stiff. I ordered some Traxxas 8260x shocks with the softest springs available. I have some pen springs for the inside also if needed. There is going to be a lot of spring and shock work coming up. I just got the truck put together but getting ready to get the suspension dialed in.

Most guys use the modified Traxxas big boreswith rod ends on both sides with Losi mini-t springs. I just don't like the look of that setup and want to run a more realistic shock.

FYI, I’m prolly going to copy this for my C2 build... and I also wish there were other options for a 4s esc...

No worries, I took the idea from Harley Designs. He has a parts list in the blog on his website. The main difference was the chassis, he went with a Brazin scale ATL.

I too thought about putting my receiver up near the servo on my V3 VFD build, but was concerned about the wires possibly getting chewed up in the spur gear. And with the size of the Mamba X, there isn't much room left on the slider. I may try to do something similar and 3D print a receiver tray to mount to the top of the VFD trans. I think I remember seeing Harley do that to his CF build.

Yep, gotta keep it simple! The hole in the trans spacer was the perfect simple solution! Nice work!

Solid build! Nice work with the VFD in there. Digging those wheels and the CF bed. Great build.

Update on the build:

Painted body
Hot Racing rx box fuel cell lid
Reign rc cb antenna
Jerry can
SRC radiator
Magnetic front body mount

Vanquish VFD overdrive gears 21%
Axial overdrive ring and pinion 10%, shimmed front and rear diff
Traxxas 8260x TRX4 shocks
Traxxas 8042 springs

I want to add a little weight to the front end, but can't figure out what diff cover or knuckles to use for this axle. Horizon says it uses the AR45 diff cover but it's not even close.

Going to try some SCX10II knuckles and see if those fit. They are a different part number but look pretty similar.

Side hill performance is great. Still waiting on some Proline tires to show up, on backorder. I am not sold on the Pitbull's.

Crawls awesome just need to keep tweaking the chassis to get it where I want it.

The paint look fantastic! I can see the Growlers not being so great for your area :-/ they are working awesome for me but only time will tell. How are you liking the motor?

Thanks Lou, paint job came out great. Pictures do not show how metallic the red is, I tried all kinds of lighting. Need a real camera

I have been really happy with proline hyrax and flat iron in my area. Just ordered some trencher 1.9s, they should be here on Tuesday.

The motor is super smooth and has tons of torque. Almost too much!!! Have sent it onto it’s lid a few times with just a little wheel speed. When it finds traction it hooks up. Really seemed to like 15 degrees of timing, I tried 0 at first and it wasn’t smooth off the bottom.

Great job in the build.

I had a quick question on the links. Looks like you had to go with a longer upper front link. What about the panhard and drag link, are those standard scx10 ii links ?
