Default Indys c1

Hey yall, been awhile since i done a build thread. Figured id share my class 1 build with yuns. I plan to go to scale nats in april, so ive got plenty of time to get this one done.

I got a gspeed v1c1 chassis from our good buddy twade the other day. Thanks again brother, much appreciated! Ive gotta get a servo mount for the chassis. Believe ill get the dual servo mount so i can put the winch servo up front as well.

Ive got a scx10.2 roller sittin on the shelf thatll make a good donor rig. The axles are new, never seen the trail. Think ill get a set of o/d gears for the front axle. Ive got a good 3 gear trans that i had in my m/t build a few yrs ago. Ive also got a fmm, but would need to get a transfer case, short shaft, n the mounts for the fmm itself. My other option would be to go with one of my favs, the vfd. Love that trans in my gspeed v3 n my vstrx4 builds. It performs well, low slung motor, optional o/d gear sets, wat more could u ask for lol.

The body is a tamiya f350 hardbody. It was my first body for the 10.2 i built 3 yrs ago?. But i may switch it up for a yota hardbody, idk yet. But i would like to do an interior, for scale points if anything.

Electronics, im goin for the castle mamba x. Which i got from another member here. Thanks again tanis! N im either goina run the castle slate 2850kv or the HH torquemaster 2700kv, not sure yet. One will go in this build, the other will go in the vstrx4. For the steering, i think ill pick up another nitro pro servo. Theyre quick n have plenty of torque. N the servo winch ill definantly go with a 3bros.

I e got 2 sets of 1.9 wheels, but i may pick up a new set. One set is a cheap set of alum beadlocks with rc4wd slingers, the other set is the plastic incision wheels from the vs4 kit n a set of ottsix klr m/ts (red i believe). Really leanin toward the klrs but maybe a set of alum beadlocks instead.

Im goina get a set of itw hi clearance links as well.

Any n all suggestions are welcome. Ill do my best to post up pics as i go n give yall updates. Its goina b a slow build, so sit back n enjoy...

You’ve got a great start already, and I look forward to seeing this chassis built (and actually used, unlike when I owned it).

I vote for the klrs, and I think the incision wheels wouldn’t look too bad either.

Also I’d vote for keeping the super duty body, one for the paint job, and two because it’s not as common as the hilux. Either way though, glad you started a thread on it

Thanks tom! Itll definantly get used, esspecially wen i get the back corner of the yard cleaned up. Me n sage, my pit, have been workin on it off n on weather permitting lol.

I like the super duty myself. Had a 01 f250 crew cab, 7.3 powerstroke, 4x4. Man i miss that truck.

Think the incision wheels would look good with the super duty body. Found a set of alum ones on the bay that look almost like the ones ive got

I agree to all of the above

Good lookin SD Indybama. I'm a truck guy, so I love them older trucks, especially a single cab dually Highboy

And not to ignore the build! I like this idea.

Thanks SNL! Depends on the yr as to single, supercab, or crewcab. But a dually build would b cool.

I forgot, but im gettin a HH shv500v3 servo. So it may go in this build, not sure yet.

The pic of my crewcab is from wen i lived in FL. N sage isnt always that dirty lol. She goes n plays in the natural stream out back n comes back lookin like that. Shes such a big baby lol

Got to piddlin with the c1 yesterday n got the donor chassis tore down. N started on the gspeed chassis. Ive still gotta get the dual servo mount, hi clearance links n a trans yet.

Its sittin on a cobbled together set of links for now just to get a good visual of wat itll look like. The wb is off a bit. If i line up the front tires, the backs are a bit to far back. But thats hopefully just the links ive got under it at the moment. If i can find the front bumper, i know its floatin around here somewhere, its goina need alot of trimming. The front tires will rub really bad, that was the issue wen it was on my 10.2 as well. But i dont want to have to raise the body much to clear the tires. Really wanna run the f350 body, but if i cant make it work ive got a PW body...

Goina give these desert lizard shocks a go for now. Got a short med spring on top n a shorter soft spring on the bottom. They dont feel to stiff so we'll see.

The wheels are goina need some 225 hubs to bring them in a bit. Way to wide for the body, but ive got an idea for flaring the fenders a bit more than stock. There again, i may order a different set of wheels too...

Wat do yall think so far?

Yeah, looks like a great deal and it's going to look great with the F350 body!

Man, I would love to go to Scale Nats! But all the great events are either way south of me or out west on that incredible terrain they have! Someday maybe, someday!!!!!

Just a small update for those that are keepin up.

I ordered the dsm n hardbody sliders from gspeed a few weeks ago. Finally got around to gettin them installed. Looks like ill have to do some body surgery to gey the body mounts to line up. Nothin to major, just notch the bed for the shocks n shock towers. Its comin along slowly, but its gettin there lol

Hopefully be ordering the links in the next week or so

Finally got an update on this build. Its been awhile, ive been tryin to gather up some parts. Hard part was deciding on a body.

I got with our good buddy twade awhile back n picked up a set of phoenix axles. Think ill snag another set down the road, if i dont just buy another kit instead lol

Then i picked up some 80mm incision shocks from another fellow addict, xloneonex. Havent had the incision shocks yet, are they pretty good? Any leaks?

Then today, the body finally arrived! Its been a hard decision. Ive been lookin for somethin different. Theres tons of yotas n jeep hardbodies, i did look at the bronco from club5, but theres the trx4 bronco... The body i picked is kinda yota lookin, more so the bed imo. Yet i think it kinda looks like the ford courior n maybe even the ol chevy luv.

The next thing is paint. Thinkin a 2 tone brown, wat do yall think? Any suggestions on color?

Thats all i have on this for now. Goina snag some links from a donor truck tomorrow n get the axles mounted under it. Ill get more pics as i go along. Scale nats is comin up quick, n im just gettin on this one. Plus the phoenix needs paint yet smh.

Heres a few pics of the body sittin on the v3 phoenix. I plan on a bit more narrow stance with this build. The phoenix has .350 hubs, im goina try n run .225s
