Default Fricker08 builds an Rc Speedy Project $2K22

Well I got somewhat of a roller going last night. Everything went together pretty dang smooth once I figured out how to mount a couple things. The suspension will definitely need some work but I figured as much. I got the vanquish D44’s mounted last night and mocked the transmission up. It looks like I’ll be able to hide the vfd twin shift servos under the dash with a bracket so I’m stoked about that! The pics aren’t the best but this will be riding on some custom cerakoted vanquish bully’s as teased before, black scale hardware throughout and .350 hubs. Enough talk, here’s some pics. Also I’ll be updating the earlier reserved posts with some step by step pics as well

After seeing it in person, I can say the pictures don’t do it justice. This is going to be a seriously dope rig.

Default Fricker08 builds an Rc Speedy Project $2K22

Thanks guys! This is a super fun build so far. I apologize for not keeping up but here’s a little update. I changed the Panhard bar to a bent link with some jato rod ends. Trimmed a couple jato ends for the rear upper links to get the pinion angle right and swapped out the springs on the proline shocks for some trx4 gts springs and that made a huge difference.
I got the electronics somewhat installed, winch mounted and the swap bar installed.
I have some micro servo brackets and servos on the way for transmission shifting duties.
I’ll keep updating as I go

Sorry guys, been a slow build. Been a crazy long week so I didn’t do much. Wanted to be in a good mood when I work on this thing and enjoy it.

I ordered some vfd dig micro servo brackets from spare time rc, and they’re perfect. I have some emax servos coming.. not fast enough.. So I swung by hobbytown and grabbed one they had in stock to do some mock up.
I got the dig working in a 3pos pretty smooth. I may go grab another servo today so I can get the overdrive setup.

I got the lights mounted up top, I need to grab some Q-series lights for the front. But it’s finally coming together. Couldn’t help but throw some panels on it.

Some more pics. With the spares and everything else she comes in at just over 10lbs.. not bad all things considered

Sooo here’s #2. I wasn’t super stoked on the cerakoted wheels on my truck so it’s going to get some clear bully’s for now.
I finally just about got the wiring all buttoned up on #1 but I need to get some more rear suspension.
Anyways here’s some pics

Looks fantastic. Need to break up all the silver. Imo a set of the LURC wheels would look amazing.

Yea I agree about breaking up the panels. I saw one guy that used a wrap from an old axial or something but unfortunately I can’t find anything that would fit that’s to my liking

Beautiful how nicely the vfd twin fits in there under the seat. Really cool trailing arms, I assume those came in the cage package?

Such a great looking build! I'm blown away by all the details in the cage, welds, etc.

I really liked the look with the Currie D44 axles, but now I think it looks even better with the black F9's!

It's gonna look killer out on the rocks!

Sorry I didn’t mean to leave this post hanging! Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I’ll have some pics of this beast out on the rocks. Since the last update on my Speedy, I got everything working, well that my dx5c would allow.. might need to figure out a 6/7 channel setup one of these days. Overdrive and dig work perfectly, set up in 3 positions each, therefore giving me rear wheel drive! I ditched the crazy blue wheels and went with some clear bully’s for now. Scale hardware n what not to come. Wrapped the aluminum side panels in carbon fiber vinyl for the time being.
Also got the rear suspension dialed, went to 105mm dual shocks in the rear. Lengthened the sway bar links and I tell you.. this things a blast. It will 3 wheel and in my apartment on the carpet it will pull the front tires off the ground.. I’ll have to go in and address gearing after tomorrows run I’m sure.
Anyways, enjoy some pics
