It can be a bummer when ya pick something different up and it just doesn't immediately come together. I bought the Associated DB8 Nomad 1/8th scale buggy, and have had it for a few years now - total of about 4 packs run through it - don't really enjoy driving fast anymore. Also picked up a Tamiya M-08 for a Lancia Stratos body that I bought like 15 years ago, still haven't trimmed or painted the body. ...and a Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 to eventually try to make into a vintage moonshiners back-road runner - maybe with a McAllister stock car body? Always have ideas in my head - the trouble is putting them into actual play! |

Thats entirely on the gearing, when a rig is off thats all there is to it. Looks like a fun project, glad to see the stock brodozer tires gone Quote:
First thing that comes to mind is the TRX4 2 speed. I feel like it had a bit bigger of a difference between gears. But there might be better options out there. EDIT: I forgot about the lack of portals (less gearing down) so I guess thats still on the fast side for a crawler. Last edited by HumboldtEF; 03-16-2022 at 10:24 PM. | ||

The gears are most definitely the culprit. I run the BRXL and I never use the Holmes hold. Just way to much lock up. I’m also a big fan of the torque master expert. I’d go as far as saying they are what I buy for all my builds. The fellas were suggesting a different trans with lower gearing and I suggest the same. Best of luck getting the build dialed in. the scx10 3 gear trans are really cheap i use 2 one as a forward motor mount gear reduction unit other as a t case sometimes i use the 2 speed wraith trans if im not getting the low end or high end i want out of the single speed i think the 2 speed option would be awsome on this truck |

All good points folks. I will likely look into swapping a transmission in. Not sure which one or how I’ll mount it, but I’ll keep you all posted when the time comes. For now, I think I’m going to just hit the EASY Button and drop in a 3300kv HW AXE 550 combo I have sitting on the shelf. To keep it toned down if I need to, I can just program it the the highest power level through the ESC and Transmitter. |

I installed the HW system and it works decent, 3300kv is WAY too much for this truck On the ESC, I set forward to 37.5%, reverse to 25% and drag brake to 125%. Then I set the throttle EXP to -35% on the Transmitter. Startup is decently slow and I can change up the power settings for different driving conditions. All in all, it’ll get me by for now. That is till I figure out what I actually want to do. |

| Re: CEN F450 Journey and Mods Hey there neighbor I have collected a few parts for it, but the wife and kids have been keeping me busy with fixing their rigs, as well as staying busy with RV, 4-wheeler, home and yard projects now that summer is finally here. I hope to be able to work on it a little here and there, but it will be a slow process. Thanks for checking in. |
