Choosing new rig

Now thar the school year is coming to an end, my grandkids will be spend ing many days over the house. They will be using my wraith 1.9, wraith spawn and bought a trx4 sport. I need a new rig for myself and it comes down to trx4 or scx 10.3, I'm not willing to spend $900+ to get the Mercedes Benz of the rc worlds Vanquish Phoenix. I've never tried out the trx4 or sport by the way. Best in grades gets the choice of new in box or upgraded axials

Check out the element Ecto, also. I crawl with a guy that did minimal upgrades to his, and it keeps up annoyingly well with my custom crawlers that cost 3-4x as much.

DRED hit the nail on the head. Lots of Ecto rigs at my local track. Very few tweaks/upgrades and I often hear them referred to as the “non-cheater cheater rig” because they’re ridiculously capable, light, and agile.
Nothing wrong with the two mentioned either.

My son just got an Ecto and it’s pretty amazing. We changed the servo and put the JConcept 1.9 ruptures on and the truck is just a beast on the rocks.

If you want an Ecto, buy a Gatekeeper kit and put an Ecto body on it. This way you skip past the mediocre RTR electronics, and get the FT hard plastics instead of the flimsy stuff that comes on the Ecto. Oh, the GK kit has nicer shocks and metal hollow balls as well.

Good call Dr! I should’ve said the same but I’m not especially familiar with the differences. Mine is a Gatekeeper with the Ecto body. I used the spring mod to drop it about 10mm, only added weight is the SSD brass knuckles, and I did move the steering servo to the axle. All of which were cheap to do.

TRX4 is always a safe bet, very durable and performs great out for the box BUT you already have one.

You don't see the love for the 10iii that you do for the 10ii.

Allot of people like the Enduro types. I really liked my Enduro with AR44s under it. I didn't like the Enduro axles themselves and mine was from back when the link ends sucked but I think that has been fixed.

If you want a different rig get the GK and out a different body on it. If you want compatibility (when/if something breaks) get another vehicle that you already have.
