The body set up is nice, hopefully the drive train quality is decent though their design guys obviously were a little too drunk when it came to setting up the steering and such up front.

It's not terrible, nothing a new servo or servo arm can't fix. Rather freak occurrence to have
broken the servo arm though; it looks to be made of brittle instead of flexible plastic like every
other hobby grade (Futaba, etc) servo horn.

Been waiting for a better-than-Tamiya Jeep for a long time and the 1/6 Jimny is a good substitute, just
wasn't crazy about the Jimny and the scale.

P.S. I think I stand corrected. This crawler is purportedly named after the designer off the YJ Jeep: Chuck Mashigan
At least that seems more than 95% plausible. I guess it is their way of getting around the Jeep licensing and
somehow paying homage to the designer. Nobody knows Chuck Mashigan though so this is a bit dubious.
Should have just named it "Michigan" or "Adventurer".

Before throwing a rock at the stock servo horn almost everyone will anyway be prone to change for aluminum before even getting the car ... winter is coming ... with its usual cohort of broken plastics ...

Can't wait to get mine ... I haven't swapped the chassis between the Jimny and the Willys but might do with this one ... at least to give it a try.

I wasn't even referring to the servo horn, that is what it is.

The 4 link with chassis mounted servo. That was a very dumb overly drunk or hung over moment cause even FMS should have known better.

It's still, with maybe a few minor evolutions, the same chassis and axles since the Willys ... which had a Panhard bar ... but as it looks like they plan selling a leaf spring upgrade kit, they used the Jimny engine layout that moved the servo on the wrong side ... making the Panhard mount on the axle unuseable ...

Tamiya CC02 is the same design, it's flat terrible. From a company that overdesigns everything, it's a huge flaw imo.

I LIKE chassis mounted steering servos with all their quirks and bump-steer and other sub-optimal issues--it is "just like the real thing".
By that I mean a real YJ has a steering box, tie rods, rack and pinion or whatever it is and it is independent of the axles.

I'm ignorant in this area; Is an axle mounted servo really the only answer? I've seen people fix the bump steer though, with a better "drag link" or linkage.

And yes, the original product description states an optional leaf spring kit and "turksandjerps" shows where they attach to the chassis.

Now all the major high subscriber Youtube channels have their Mashigan and have submitted review videos right on cue. One guy has even done a full repaint and detail to replicate what
looks like a Wrangler 'Sahara Edition'.

In non-leaf spring set up it isn't 4 link. It's 3 link and what RC knows as a panhard bar. Or also known as a track bar. That's where FMS screwed up really bad.

Now the video mentions putting the steering servo on the other side which is a US thing in 1:1, that person doesnt fully comprehend how suspension works either.. The servo can be on the side it's on now and the panhard bar is ran over from there to the other side.

Want an example, jeep XJ better known as the older basic style jeep cherokee. It's 3 link with track bar (panhard bar) in the front and depending on how you look at it 3/4 link in the rear. It's 4 mounting points frame but 3 points on the axle.

Fms should have done 3 link front to do it correctly instead of this mess they made which trashes performance.

I thought it looked really nice but not one to add to my collection... Waiting instead for them to make more US ww2 vehicles in 1/12 then they can just take my money

What works on 1:1 isn't always transposable to scale ...

Here's the underside of the Jimny ... the battery tray is on the way, you'll have hard times to get a proper Panhard bar geometry.

On the Willys, it was a completely different layout that had all the room needed for the Panhard bar

Fabulous, thanks for the photo comparison!

It is difficult searching for photos of the real Jeep YJ and the Mashigan, plus the Jimny and others.
You'd think they would be consistent with the linkage and suspension layout. In fact I was thinking
the Jimny and Mashigan would have the exact same layout for ease of manufacture.

I'm curious what will be in the optional leaf spring kit ... according to the manual and the Jimny, the rear inner brackets of the front leaf springs is integral to the servo/battery tray ... however, I haven't seen it on the existing videos ... on some, it even seems to have been cut from the factory ... while the front inner brackets are still there.

Thanks for the heads up on that price.

The pricing has really come down a lot and it might be due to it being
a poor seller...maybe.

Some driver sizes

Jimmy is 21cm/8in ... already a bit too tall for pure 1/10 and still way too small

The driver (HM Armed Forces) from my Sawback is 26cm/10in ... a bit too tall

No need to check with Sgt Elias from Platoon ... with his 30cm/12in, he can't fit right no matter how much you butcher him.
24-25cm should be spot-on ...

With some trucks ... first 2 are 1/10, second is around 1/8, last is 1/6

Pfffft thats $97 now. I could have bought 3 at that price.

I watched a couple yt vids, and it appears that the Mashigan shares many parts with the 1/6 willys

Can't even find them now, all gone since the price drop. Wish I had seen the insane price cut I would have grabbed one then.
