Default Dual dually project thread...

Hello fellers....
Just wanted to write in and show yall a couple of my project rigs right now. Now dont expect them to come quick like, it might take some time. The reg cab should be running by sep. 22 so i can take it up to little rock ark for a gtg. But the crew cab could take some time... But i figured id go ahead and start a build thread so yall can enjoy my painstaking slow build...
Now for a couple of pics to show the trucks im talkin about...

Im planning on puttin an r2 tranny in both of them, im gona need the low gears when its all said and done with the plan for the quad cab dually. Im probly gona run 55turns in em too since i have a couple laying around. But stay tuned because the chassis of the quad should prove to be quite a fun little challenge...
Untill next time....... :firedevil:

Hmm.. Progress pics.. sure... but dont expect to see a new one every day.. lol.. But since i was late gettin up this mornin, i figured id take some mock up ride hight shots of the quad dually, just to wet the appitite.. lol...
I think number 2 is what im gona shoot for, 1 is too low, and 3 looks more like a show truck than a hauler...
1. the ground pounder ride height.

2. the happy medium.

3. the sky high club.

Im not gona use thoes wheels and tires, they came off my aeromax for mock up, but the truck is sold... so look for some different rims to be on it..
Hurry up rc4wd.. lol..

yeh, i kinda like the slamed version, but i dont think its apropriate for a 4x4.. but thats just my crazy taste in trucks.. lol..
thanks to my bud chip, the reg cab dually is one step closer to getin it on... thanks for the r2 man... :nice:

if i get a chance, i may work on the tranny mount after work tomorow.

just a little update.. i was workin on the orange dually today, had the r2 mounted up, and finished one drive shaft, i would have a pic of it, but while working on the second shaft, my pliars slipped and dug into my thumb, its numb now, and bleeding... and i broke one of the yokes... so looks like its off to get some more soon....
but now thinking about it.. i may use a pede tranny, not sure yet... depends on how i feel after my thumb quits hurtin....:(

i like the mediam height to but u could go just. A little lower than that it still kinda looks like a show truck. Atleast thats what i would do what tires are u going to use and i what rims?

I still like the lowered version! Did you do the body work on the 4 door? I cant wait to see both of these rigs finished!

i was just going for general ideas with the pictures, no telling where its gona end up, still gota think up a chassis.

as for tires, im leaning towards the tamiya rock cruisers. and for wheels, i have no idea right now, i want to use the tamiya rig wheels, but they are a tad small for the tires. i guess im stuck to waiting on rc4wd.. lol.. i hope they got something in the works...

No, cant take the credit for the body work, micro goat done it up for me, real nice work too.. The reg cab should be a runner this weekend if i get all my parts intime, i instaled the steering servo a little while ago, not sure if i like it, might have to tweak it a bit.

For a chassis look at obijuans thread on his crewcab. He built his frame out of 1/2" square steel tubing and has the diminsions posted in the thread.

Good news... The reg cab is a runner now...

All thats left is to screw down the drive shafts, and rig up a battery tray...

On to pics... They seem to be the money maker round here... lol..

Locked pede tranny
axle snapper motor
dynamyte tazer esc
tq3

What do yall think about the front drivshaft angle? It looks kinda steep, should i try to shorten it? Or is it just gona be that sharp? I cant move the tranny back, it just clears the bed, so that option is out. Imput would be apritiated..

That motor is S.L.O.W.... with a capitol SLOW... i might have to upgrade to a little faster motor, shoot, would take an hour to get from the truck to the rocks... lol.. Cant wait to test the tourque ( dont say nothin, i know i cant spell).

Im thinkin bout paintin the truck blue, and doin something about the bed.. Not sure what yet... But i will keep yall informed..

Yeah you gotta change that pinion angle. It will get hung up on everything.

This might help you. I did this on my Bruiser chassis to fix the same thing. As you can see, I made shims from a cutting board. Easy to make. Helped tremendously.

there's also the clocked axel C's, those would help too, and keep your steering normal
