| New Hilux project!
I had it for about 10 minutes before the Icing came out Once I saw the extra holes in the rocker panels (and double checking which ones were the extras) I decided that the stickers provided weren't going to cut it. So I mixed up a small batch and filled 'em in. But you don't care about that Here's the good stuff: The body is indeed just a little different from the Bruiser/Mounty, but it will fit the OG 3-speeds. The body post on the hood is in the same place, and the bed has the depression for the body clips and a cutout for the switch. There are also covers you install when using the body on the new Lux. The grille and front valance are molded in black; the bumper is a separate part molded in black chrome. The new headlight buckets (also black chrome) screw on. Light buckets are molded into the bed, and there's holes for lighting up the sidemarkers, turn signals, etc. The door locks and emblems are shaved down, self-adhesive photo-etch parts are provided. There's a Hog Heaven windshield banner, too I got some paint on it, and it'll have four days to cure while I'm in Hawaii Bold added so you don't cry for updates I did manage to get the tranny and frame assembled, too. The rest will have to wait. |

I wish I had the extra $$$ right now for one of those... I hate Christmas shopping. What are you going to run for tires on it?

I'm experimenting with ways to take the black off, and leave the chrome. Had a little success with Easy-Off and steel wool, but it's real easy to go too far and take off the chrome. There has to be a way. I've got plans for a body drop, too. Look at the chassis pics at tamiyausa.com; see the 10mm white spacers under the mechanism deck? Should look a whole lot better sitting 10mm lower. As far as tires go, it's gotta be 1.9 Rock Stompers |

Here's the scoop on black chrome: Use sticker-goo remover and a nice clean rag. Spray it on and start rubbing. The black will fade and soon you'll have bright shiny chrome Be careful around the sharp corners on the bumpers; it's easy to go all the way through the chrome layer down to the black, but touched-up shiny chrome is better than black chrome in my book. |

| Update!
Had a chance to get a little more work done on the Lux. It's a runner now, but I gave up on the chrome when I rubbed through in a couple spots. So the parts are off at Chrome-Tech, and won't be back for 4-6 weeks. Maybe longer with xmas and all that. But when I get 'em back they'll look like they should have from the beginning Found out my body-drop idea is a no-go unless I clock the motor. And I'm not sure if I'm putting an MFU in it or not (it's on my Christmas list) so we'll see if there's room. Meanwhile, I threw on some new hoops and fender flares: Started on the bed cap, changed up the exhaust a little, and put on the 4WD stickers I found at Kila's LHS in Waikiki Pretty cool of them to include this sticker, huh? That's about it for now. It's mostly stock except for relocating the servo, eliminating the shock & shift springs, cutting the gear cover, and eliminating the lift blocks. Bed cap (Trekker style) is done, along with an extended rack for two surfboards, cuz who the hell wants to surf alone? And I made an appropriate license plate.
