Default Another scale wrangler...only different!

So i have become more increasingly interessted in building a scaler. I have been thinking about it for some time now. The only problem was i didn't know what i wanted to build. I really wanted to do a hard body, and we all know those are limited, and i wanted something different, so this was difficult. I really like jeeps so i was immediatly drawn that route but there are so many of them i really didn't want to do another one, but i decided to anyway.

However i am going to throw in a lot of things to set this one apart! It will be different than all the others!!

Keep checking for updates.

It all starts here!!

A high lift! Hmm what will we do with this? i bet you can never guess!

I then purchased a new bright wrangler for the hard body. did a little trimming to get it ready.

I even started to do a soft top.

My original plan was to turn this body into a yj and obviously use the highlift as the chassis to make it different...but

After some more working i really didnt like the high lift chassis for this build just wasnt the look i wanted so....

Along came a blazin blazer chassis!! This is way more cool looking and scale!
so all the highlift parts are now being transplanted into this chassis!!

With this new set up unfourtunitly my new bright jeep body is no longer going to work as it is.....keep posted for what happens next!!

Got some more work done on her today. I got all the front suspension parts and axle mounted to the frame. I will post up some pics tomarrow. I have to say it is coming together nicely!!

Well till i started mocking up the rear suspension!

Its going to be a little more difficult.

The frame is much wider than the highlift leafs. not sure what i am going to do yet. My two options are to move the springs out further on the axle or inboard the spring hangers and shackle towards the middle of the blazin blazer frame.

I like option 2 better this will give me more articulation because of the leverage. We will see what becomes of this maybee tomarrow.

Cool hopefully i wont disapoint!!

Ok got some pics of the front and rear suspension all mounted up!
front was pretty easy i just narrowed the front frame support so the frame was the correct width to accept the high lift suspension. drilled a few holes and mounted it all up.

still need to fabricate a support for the front spring hanger to make it more sturdy.

The rear on the other hand was a little more difficult like mentioned before i had 2 routes to take. I opted for the inboarding of the springs. This went pretty good.

I used the spacer blocks that came with the spring hangers and doubled them up on each side on the inside of the frame to align this end of the suspension.

I used the spacers that came with the high lift that went between the shackles as spacers along with some brakeline for a larger spacer to make the rear suspension all line up at the shackle end.

ahhh i have the makings of a roller!!!

unfourtunitly no matter what i tried to do to make the wheel base work, i couldn't get the tj body to fit right! :-( so off to wally world to get another one!!

This is where it gets even more different!!

now too bad that soft top i started making premature is no longer going to work!! that was a waste of time!! o-well cant always go as planned!!

Keep posted for updates i will be hopefully finishing the body this weekend and doing the transmission mount and flipping the motor to the front of the transmission to fit under the hood!!

i assume the chassis too long for the body? i believe that body is 9.75" WB
is that RC4WD chassis?

yes the chassis was too long. i want to keep the 3 speed high lift tranny and couldn't shorten the chassis enough to make it all work. so the 4 door wrangler is in effect!!

i realize that the 4 door wrangler is not leaf sprung and this irritates me a little since i wanted it to be as close to scale as possible but it is what it is now.

no its not rc4wd chassis i was told it was a stock bruiser chassis but as bird stated below i think it is a blazing blazer.

got the sceond body and did some more hacking!!

Bruiser/Mounty rails are steel,Hilux/Blazers have aluminum rails.Build looks cool, are you going to be mounting the 3 speed in the chassis? What is the wheel base the way you have it set up?I was thinking about doing the same as you with a Hilux body and 3 speed.Any more pics?
