This is how you build a scaler

Take a cool, unique subject, build it up with just enough detail to make it look real, without looking like an Okie yard sale.

Darn, and I was just about to add a bunch more stuff to make it look like an Okie yard sale. I guess I'll change my plans now...

Great pics! That rig is just flat out awesome....excellent work .

How do you have your Rock Crushers set up? I see very little flex in them.

I think it's neat to look at when one side of the truck looks like it should just flop over on the top and the other side is flat.

I got to see this rig in person today. OlYelr was in Roanoke on business and we met up at our "Lil Moab" crawling spot to have a mini scaler meet. The Power Wagon is really nice and does not dissapoint in person. Unfortunately, there was something going on and the truck just would not run. It acted like the BEC in the speed control was not powering the servos at all...but there was no drive from the motor either. Bummer, I was looking forward to our trucks running together on the rocks. It was good to meet you today OlYelr. Next time you are in town we will try and do this again. I will bring the video camera next time.

I did however get some shots of our would be rock assault.

Yeah, I was really disappointed that my Rooster Crawler ESC chose that particular time to take a dump. At least I had a 2.2 with me too to do a little bit of crawling. Great spot, and great photos of the "almost trail run". :-(

Time to raise the skid plate...

Then I'll be dropping in a new ESC, and we'll be off an running again.

Once the three speed is out, there should be plenty of room for an interior.

I finally made time to get the new transmission mounted. It fits easy, lowers the center of gravity, and raises the ground clearance. It's great! Now I just need to fab up a quick skid plate, and get my wiring back where it needs to be.

First side effect benefit: Room for an interior! I have to figure out what I'm doing there. Bench seat and basic dash I guess.

Second side effect benefit: The servo up front that was used for shifting is now available for a winch.

Here's a couple pictures:

I'm also going to remount the battery into the rear half of the frame rails, bringing the center of gravity even lower.
