Bronco 2.2 Scaler X trail chassis build

Well I caught a bug, and it's the scaler bug. I have seen some amazing work on here. Dad's work truck won me over on the scale front. I can't believe the ingenuity that went into that build, it's simply amazing. I have set out to build my first scaler, and needless to say it sucks. I told myself to take time and do it right, but the other shoulder screams, " I wanna crawl NOW"! So I gotta little rushed and here I am. I started with the X trail chassis and some sheet metal. I have 6 AX-10's, so I had plenty of spare parts to start building. I stripped the old green and went with the rough look of worn aluminum. Next I built a roller and started to get ready to fab. My family owns a welding business, so I grabbed a little 110V and brought it home. I call this welder the throw away unit, it welds like crap but that's what they make grinders for. Anyways I built the front bumper out of 4 pieces of 22 gauge sheet metal. Next I built the engine compartment, and the fire wall. I proceeded to build the rear out of 22 gauge sheet metal and formed some roll bars. I built the motor and it fit perfectly. I will eventually build a cab, dash, recaro seats(came from another scale build on here), winch, lights, rear bumper, trailer to haul my T2008, and carpet. So here is what we have now....

65 T integy motor
X trail chassis
custom engine (Parma)
Dynamite ESC
Futaba 2.4 ghz radio
Mud slingers 2.2
Custom wheels RC4WD

Yes I have to say the detail in the rims is awesome. Going from only seeing the axial bead locks to the RC4WD, is like going from a valiant to a mercedes. Oh yes cats, it's that special!!!"thumbsup"

I got a good buddy that had a blue 68 with a silver stripe that ran under the windows followed to the bed. But he also didn't have a blower sticken out the hood either:shock:. Im thinking of going a peach color with a tan rag top?

very cool bronco , on my bronco i extented a little the wheel base on back ,i think it s better for crawling and not bad for scale too ,because for me the wheelbase of bronco it s too small with 2.2 .
just my opinion .

I love that color, the truck looks great. Is it possible to push the front axle out a little bit, the wheel base looks a little short.

TONKA TOY 03-20-2008 10:04 PM

Got the torch set from the crawler store. I have a trailer coming and plan on building a portable engine drive welder, set up my cutting torch, and air compressor. I will have my portable welding trailer ready to go on site!!

Just because it's a welding shop doesn't mean they have a arc, mig, and a tig. Where I'm originally from there are 4 different welding shops, none have a tig, and only 2 have a mig which they have sitting in the corner and hardly ever use. Lot of these old school guys are stuck on arc and can make it looks just as good as a tig. It amazes me.

Sweet build. That color fits it perfect! Love the blower sticking out of the hood

JBHardwear 04-21-2008 06:11 PM

That looks like crap, it wil never work right. pack that thing up in a box with some bubble wrap around it and I will come pic it up and haul it to my hous......I mean the dump.

J/K it is an awsome rig, does not play well with others http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...well_done1.gif
