Try sticking the plate to the bed with some quality double sided sticky tape. That will give you a really clean install look, and its not very thick. I love that diamond plate though, could you tell us where to find some? :-p

So what are you doing right now while I am aiming you?

I don't think I am going to diamond plate the side walls of the bed. I like the off set of black and bling right now.

Jason, :flipoff: This is what I was doing (trying to) when you were aimimg me last night. I need to change my aim id! :flipoff:

Well, crap! Not sure why I didn't think of that.

I bought the tow pintle for the Scorpion from Ric.

Nice guy.

Thanks. You know this thing will not look this good for long. ;-)

Here's the chassis with 2 coats of primer and 1 coat of flat black. Need to spray one more coat on then it's assembly time.

its going to be even harder to tell its not real now. Are you painting the axles black too?

After painting the chassis I was wondering if I should. Everything else is going to be painted black, I am wondering if that would be too much.

braceysdad 07-05-2005 12:24 PM

As you mentioned before, it won't look like that for long.

Rockinrockcrawler 07-05-2005 12:29 PM

I think you should try to make the diff cover natural metal color and the rest black. I think it'd break up the all black and look really scale.

Yeah, that is another reason why I don't want to paint the axles. I think it would look stupid with the tops of them nicely painted black and the bottoms all F'ed up.

That's how most 1:1 rigs are ;)

ManiacMagoo 07-05-2005 08:17 PM

Should of left the body all sanded like in your pic and gave it the realistic look of 99% of the toyotas that body style out there.

I know! I thought it looked sweet like that but I thought it would look goofy with a brand new flatbed.

ManiacMagoo 07-05-2005 10:58 PM

Well you could of sprayed the bed then hit it lightly with a multi speed dremel on slow with a wire brush for the same effect.

badger 07-05-2005 11:06 PM

That I could. But I think I will run it like this for a while and beat it on the rocks then I can always revert back to the primered/sanded look.

skyjacker_rc_club 07-05-2005 11:12 PM

This came out nice badger. Now i have to build one ;-)

fuzzhead 07-05-2005 11:13 PM
