| Rebuilding Pepe into a 2.2 TTC rig
With the upcoming TTC event at Hobbytown I decided to call up Pepe as my entry rather than Guido. Pepe has been my go-to rig for several years now. The truck just always works, works well, and seems to thrive on being driven hard and put away wet. There's still mud on it from last years Top Truck Challenge where Pepe took 1st in the 1.9 class. Here is the build thread from last time. Rebuilding Pepe: Griz's 1.9 TTC F-100 Anyway, I have less than one week to transform Pepe into a 2.2 TTC rig so here we go. I started on Monday night and here's what it looked like then. The Cowrc mats are really nice, notice how the beadlock ring screws are nicely contained in one section and the magnet keeps them from getting lost when I bump it. |

| Guido is Top Looking Truck Pat , I need a cheater scaler that is light, nimble, and rugged for this competition. That's right crunky, hide the women and children, I can't be responsible for what happens next. |

Are you done yet? I might try and throw something together for Friday. I don't want to pack the FJ full of mud. |

Asshat! I will use the same chassis and body. First I had to extend the wheelbase, I stopped at HobbyTown on Sunday and picked up some Traxxas Revo pushrods and Jato rod ends. I also picked up another set of Rok Lox. First up was extending the front end. I put one Jato rod end on each Revo pushrod for the lowers and I used a couple Maxx tie rods I had laying around for the uppers. This caused the servo to hit the winch mounting plate. I had just enough room to move the winch forward and then clearance the plate for the servo.

| Currently this is a live build. I'm working on the rear end. That's right. Well, I don't know about perfection..... Quote:
My territory has shrunk a bit this year. Bring that E-Maxx tranny if you still have it. I'm interested. Homemade pizza is ready, be back in a bit. Smoke if you got 'em.

I really wanted to keep the 3.5" shocks on the front end but the tires were into the body and tube work really bad and I'd have to lose too much body. I put some 4" shocks on the front and they actually work really well. They bottom out just before the servo does on the frame. I made a crossmember from an old TLT brace, I'll use this to put a limit strap on the front end and set the ride height. The rear is set up with the same lowers and then the chrome Revo pushrods for uppers. The chrome pushrods used to be the lower links. |

Here it is standing on it's own. The wheelbase came out to 13 1/4". The belly height is currently 3 3/8" but with the limit straps I can suck it down to 2 7/8" and still have 1/2" of uptravel in the suspension. I think this will work well. |
