Default K2-4 Bronco - Topless with interior.

This is my Scaler for the W.Pa.C. club runs for this year. We just had a GTG today and the Bronco performs as well as I had hoped.

Here is my build thread from our W.Pa.C. Site:

I have too many things I want to do and not enough time to do it, so I decided to only have a Scaler this year.

I parted out my comp truck and started to piece the Bronco back together.

I have a brand new body that will have full fenders...flairs and all.

K2-4S chassis
Mamba Max ESC
Holmes Hobbies Scorpion Brushless
RC4WD R2 tranny
RPP Hobbbies Beadlocks
Mud Slingers
Rs4-MT shocks with 4-links in front
Mini-T shocks with leafs in rear
Full Interior
Full bed

This is with my old cut up body as it stands now.

I was going to do coil springs up front, but took the easy way out and just 4-linked it.

It's got leafs in the rear with my own home-made shackles. Used a half-link from a bike chain.

Hard to see in the pic, but the design lets the rear droop more than a normal set up.

Mini-T shocks seem to be fine on the rear and look pretty scale. I used small springs inside the shocks and no oil. I'm probably going to do some sanding/grinding on them and the mandatory white paint.

This setup gives me a full bed area...no wanna-be 1/4" deep bed here!

Driveshaft angles seem fine. I had to tilt the trans down in the front a little to clear my links, but seems like it will be fine.

Here's a peak "under the hood".

I bought this expensive electronics box and it came with a brushless motor...go figure!

It won't be water-proof, but should be pretty water and mud resistent.

I'll probably make a gasket and seal around all the wires...as long as it's not submerged, it should be fine.

It hides all the wires and holds the battery.

This Bronco will have a full bed and interior.

This is the start of the bed...a PVC pipe cap. The one in the pic is a 3", but for my truck I needed the 4".

First I cut it in half, then figured out how tall and wide I wanted it and cut it down to size. I laid it out on some plexiglass.

I bolted the fenderwheels down and then cut out the plexi.

Checking out the fit. Another couple pieces would complete the sides.

Sides are done.

Looks like a bed!

Shot it with some truck bed coating and set it in place.

More to come!

I was under the "crunch time" to get this finished...so not too many actual build pics available from here.

She's finished with a simple red paintjob. I was shooting for something more elaborate, but wanted to get this done for the GTG. The spare tire was just sort of thrown in there for now.

Still need to do the front fenderwheels and protect the wiring.

Thanks guys.

The ABS / PVC pipe cap seemed like the easiest way to make the bed.

I have a couple pieces left that should make nice fenderwheels for the front.

Holy crap you've done one heck of a job with that build.

Without a doubt my favorite K2-4 build-up. Well done

Thanks everyone.

kaetwo - At first I wasn't sure how I was going to make everything work out, but the combination of your chassis and the R2 transmission give good clearance both above AND below the frame rails. It really allowed me to build the full interior and gives 2 5/8" of clearance under the tranny. Once I started building, the ideas just came.

Here is a pic showing the clearance and the mild angle of the driveshafts...no binding issues here!

The motor is on the rear side of the transmision due to lack of space in the front from running a 4-link.

Overall body off shot. I use industrial velcro and foam weatherstripping under the body to hold it on...works great and NO bodymounts to break or show.

Rear leafs and shackles actually flex pretty good.

Mini-T shocks turned down and detailed.

Door panels and center console are from a Bratz Caddy. The shifter is just a bolt.

Can't find 'em...grind 'em!

Just not enough time for all my hobbies!

I'll be on the dirt bike more since my brother is cancer-free and just bought a new bike.

Roadtrips on the Harley and family time will take some of the time, too.

Truthfully, I ran my Scaler more at our GTG than I probably ran my comp truck all of last season...and it was great.
