Default Rubicon Build

This is what I've got done so far, I had a TLT and it was cool and all, but I wanted something totally different that wasn't just another kit, this is my first crawler of any kind, I'm shooting for a scale Rubicon with this one.

TLT Axles and all hardware
TLT Shocks
TCS X-Trail Chassis
Axial Locked Tranny
Modified E-Maxx Driveshafts
Pede Rims
Proline DirtWorks (not the best tire I know, wanted a less aggressive set for....well I don't know!)
Custom Links

I know the links are setup wrong in the pics, I'll triangle the top sets when I have the right parts to do so. Still need two more chassis braces too.

Looks like you got a good start. Maybe this summer I will make it down to the Boise area this summer to crawl with you guys.

That would be fun! I plan on having this scaler and an AX-10 this summer to crawl all over whatever I can find.

Here's some updated pics, my body and bumpers should be in today :-P

I'm wanting to make a canvas top similar to Kaetwo's, his looks amazing! I'm trickin' this thing out over time, gonna have lots of detail....til I roll it over on it's lid. lol

I added the electronics and battery decks, once the body gets here I'm making full splash guards in the wheel wells out of aluminum sheet, plus some skids and sliders out of brass stock.

Looks great. Those tires actually do pretty well. If you want them to look even more realistic take the center section out of them and glue them back together

So what electronics are you going to go with?

I'm going with this! haha

Cam is dead, I'll get a pic of how I mounted everything and hid the servo wire harness. Body didn't show up yesterday :-( hopefully it gets here today!

BTW, what do you mean with the tires?

We call it cut and shut the tires.

First few steps here: Reducing 2.2 Moabs to 1.9

Ah I see....I don't think I like it very much, they look a little too narrow for me. I'm just gonna leave these and get some slingers and beadlocks later.

Made some good progress!

I used the over-spray film as a really nice masking system to paint the fender flares, runners and roll cage setup a flat black, you can see it in the pictures. I wanted it to actually look like Bushwacker Fender Flares, I used Krylon Short Cuts flat black paint and I really love the texture and finish it provided! I simply took a razor to the over-spray film and cut it off of the fenders, runners, cage, hood latches and door hinges, peeled it off of them, painted and then removed the rest of the film a voila! Easy to do and looks awesome!

I'll have pics of the finished chassis once the T55's get here, then it'll be ready to rock!

Rubicon looks great, great pics with the snow in the background. The Jeep will look really good with Slingers on it.

Few more, I got bored and thought of this!

I popped holes all over the place and made this thing look more realistic with the fender flare bolts and door hinge bolts.

Let me know what you think! I'm going to start on some racks soon!

Nice job

The screws in the fenders are a nice touch.

What else is in store for it?

Thanks man! I got some of my ideas from your Compensator, that rig really inspired me.

I just made a some alloy bumper mounts and front skid, next is a tranny skid, then the racks and some scale accessories later on. Hopefully the motors get here soon, I'm going nuts having everything installed except the motor!

It's alright, I might get crazy and start doing some interior work and get those Recaro Cell Phone "Seats" and go from there. Maybe some lights...winch...XM Satellite Radio...GPS...

Is the Savage Bumper just mounted directly to the body? Can you show how that was done? I'm always curious how guys are doing that...

Looks great!
